I received an email from Excelis Medical Associates saying I had a bill needing to be paid through a website called Doctor Payments. I called Excelis directly first and they told me they use a 3rd party billing company and told me to call said company instead. The person who answered was an Indian woman saying her name was Maria. I provided the account number that was available in the email which also had my name and my girlfriend's phone number listed as my own. The date the email said the bill was for was indeed a day where I was in the ER but my insurance had fully covered it. After providing the account number to the phone rep I immediately hung up after suspecting it to be a scam and instead called both the hospital I was at as well as my medical insurance. Both sources told me I had a balance of 0.00 dollars for that visit and they had not sent any billing to doctorpayments.com.
