Dent Repair Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

Robert Ely stopped me on my way going inside Walgreens. He pointed out my dent on my car door and stated he does auto body work for much cheaper than any other auto shop. He said he can work on my car right then and there and said he's doing side jobs to make money for his family. He tried getting out the dent and then stated he needed to go to the Auto Zone to buy paint. When he came back, he was sanding down my door and put a green wax all over my door. He stated I needed to leave it on for at least 24 hours so the door has time to "relax" and the dent will even out even more. He had me pay him via CashApp. The next day, I went to the car wash and washed off the wax. He didn't fix the dent and he ended up stripping the paint off my door. I texted him as soon as I noticed it and he never responded. I have two numbers for him, his cell number, 267-276-3009 and his " business" number - 407-637-6844. When I called his business number, a woman picked up and stated she was the babysitter and she'd give him the message (which he never called me back). I've reported him to the Florida Attorney and I've made a police report. The police officer said he called Robert and that he was able to get in touch with him and he'll pay me back my $650. Robert Ely finally texted me after speaking to the police officer saying that he's going out of town and I requested that him and I meet that day at the police station so he can give me cash. He refused stating he had his kids. I then stated he can refund me using cash app. He stated his "accounts" were frozen. I informed he can pay me on PayPal and he said he will see if his girlfriend can send me the money. I did a search and he has multiple accounts on cashapp and also Venmo. He's been making up excuses as to why he can't give me my refund and it's now been 6 days that I've been trying to get it back. I've also contacted auto body shops and I've received quotes to fix what he did and one quote was $2,800 to fix my door, second quote was it's best to just get a new door, third quote the shop said there's nothing he can do to help it's that bad. One of the auto body shops stated that they've heard this scam before and it's typically used on the elderly. On Robert Ely's business card, there is no registration number and he solicited me in the Walgreens parking lot. I do not see his business on ScamPulse.com website either.
