Deerfield Institute Reports & Reviews (4)

I did a survey for Deerfield last month which took more than 45 minutes. They sent me a token a week later. When I went to redeem the token, they wanted me to provide my SSN! I was told IRS required them to report if I got more than $600 from them in a year. My reward was supposed to be $100, no where near $600! It was a complete scam! They are betting on most people won't provide their SSN to redeem $100, so they don't have pay you!

As a medical oncologist I've done several surveys for them and been paid. I do surveys for other similar medical research (investment) companies. All of the companies now ask for your W9 in the likelihood that you will eventually amass $600 or more from them and if they wait until you do so, they may not have your SSN in time to send you a 1099 and report it to the IRS in time. My only complaint is that they have switched from plastic credit cards to virtual credit cards that can only be used easily online. I have recently tried to email and call them about this but haven't heard back and I am now stuck with a virtual credit card although it is legit.

I HAVE DONE SURVE WITH THEM FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW. THEY WANT YOUR INFO SO YOU CAN REPORT IT AS INCOME FOR TAXES. THEY ARE COMPLETELY LEGIT

A few days ago, I was sent an email with a request to do a survey that was pertinent to my field (dermatology). They offered to pay me with a prepaid visa card for $125.

I did the survey. Today I received an email with a link to the card, however, when I went to activate the card, they wanted me to fill out a W9 before receiving it. I did not fill out the W9 as I do not want to give out my social security number. I am concerned that this is a scam. There is no actual address for me to find about their company.

When I google more about the company, I found a company with a similar name with this address: 780 Third Avenue

37th floor

New York, NY 10017

I really don't know if the two are connected. I would like to know if I was nearly scammed out of providing my social security number.
