Deck Contractor Scammer

We were recently scammed by a Utah licensed contractor who started a deck/awning project, then took our money and has not been unavailable since 9/14/2023. We provided two separate deposits, totally over $18000, more than 90 percent deposit. The deck is partially completed and unsafe for use. The contractor claimed that he needed the second deposit to pay for materials for the awning but we have yet to see any materials or work done to the awning. When I asked the contractor to return the second deposit, he refused. We have a signed contract to complete the deck and awning in approximately 2 weeks, which occurred in the week of Aug 14, 2023. The contractor was only available to do work intermittently and makes excuses why he is unavailable to do the work. I later discovered that this contractor has misrepresented himself as a Utah licensed contractor and has scammed at least two other victims from the Utah BBB website. I had to pay thousands to another licensed contractor to complete the deck and bring it up to code. Homeowners should not be victimized by dishonest, fraudulent contractors. Jordan Dutson a fraud, a thief, and pest to society, and he needs to be jailed for stealing money from homeowners.

To this day Jordan Jay Dutson, owner of “Jays Decking, LLC”, misrepresents himself as a licensed contractor.

On November 2022 I contacted Jordan about building a deck. He quoted $20K total. I paid Jordan Jay Dutson $11,600 as down payment to build a deck.

Jordan Jay Dutson never built a deck.

Jordan Jay Dutson did not return the money.
