Received call from Strategic Recovery Group advising they are trying to collect a debt for Capital One/HSBC in the amount of $2971.96 from a master card used in 2017-2020. They had my SSN, name, and address. I immediately called HSBC and Capital One to verify they did not have any open accounts for me. They confirmed no open accounts and this appeared to be fraud.

Claiming to be a debt cillection

Telling me that they want to verify my physical address.

They say on their recorded message that if I don't return their call, they will stamp my "paperwork" as REFUSAL TO At the beginning of the recording,they are calling to resolve a complaint on a debt owned. They say that they are calling to speak to Ann (last name).. which is not my current name. I haven't used that last name in 12 years

This is not the first time they have left a demanding message. When questioned about who they are and who are they representing, she gets pissed off and gets upset. Then she starts yelling and arguing I owe a debt and they will see me in court.

Absolutely the worst person/company to try and deal with.

Said there was a case against me but wouldn’t say what for. Had my social security number but wanted my address. They called my entire family and my boyfriend trying to get a hold of me. When we contacted a police officer he said it was a scam. When talking to scammers they got very mad when we asked for more info and said they were scamming people. Couldn’t find their “business” anywhere online. They were also able to call me even though the number was blocked so they were using fake numbers. Officer said one number was a Google number.
