Re: scam company, Dow-Carnegie Institute, DC.Institute, Vanessa Partridge
Did not fill in the scam type field because there was not a choice for this type of scammer. This fake org is pretending to be a large government contractor looking for a small business contractor to help it fulfill multiple contracts and therefore fulfill its small business quotas.
Received the email below pretending to be a large government contractor looking for "small business subcontractors".
The scammer has created an online presence for this dc.institute fake org but it is easy to see their site is not what a large federal contractor would have. They've also created cursory info on other info sites like linkedin and facebook. They are not listed in the SAM database as a federal contractor.
By picking well-recognized names to build their fake name and having phraseology that alludes to the real companies behind those names, they hope to fool people.

Good Monday Morning and a Happy New Year,

My name is Vanessa Partridge, and I'm a purchasing agent at the Dow-Carnegie Institute. We're looking for small business support in , and considering your information I gained from a Google search, I think you could be a good fit. However, I am not the final decision-maker, so I was wondering if I could get a brochure or capabilities statement to share with the rest of my team? It just really helps in easily comparing and contrasting different companies. I know a lot of companies just utilize their websites these days, so if you don't have a capabilities statement, I guess, that's fine; just let me know. Thank you very much for your assistance.

Note, I typically only check my email once a day (typically, first thing in the morning), so please, allow a day or so for response.

Have a great week,

A person reached out to me through “Google search” pretending to be a sub contract administrator for a defense contractor. They claimed to be looking for a capability statement.
