We were contacted by email from David Buchanan and he stated that he was wanting information on how to donate to our organization. I responded with the information and he replied that he and his wife were celebrating their 27th anniversary and they would instruct their secretary to send us $2,000. He mentioned they are on a fixed income. I confirmed our mailing address and asked how he came to know of us. Things seemed strange from the start and so I searched him on Facebook and saw that there is a scam targeting animal rescues using this name. They send a check bigger than the amount and want you to send them some back - like most check scams. We wanted to report it is in this area and let our rescue friends know it is happening.
