Toner Scam - Fradulant invoice

A department at St. Petersburg College sent an invoice for toner to Accounts Payable requesting payment. The college has a Managed Print Service so A/P new this was a scam. The invoice contained the correct address of a campus, as well as the name of an employee at that location and model number of the Xerox in their office. As a State Educational Institution our rerecords are open to the public, so we assume this is the avenue that "Data Copier Products Inc." took to obtain the invoice details.

The Customer Service Guy (Scott Reynolds).He is highly aggressive and sending billing invoices for a product that was not ordered and seeking collections via relentless phone calling and faxing to including but not limited to threatening and verbally assaulting staff members and myself through non-stop all day calling and faxing , interrupting urgent medically necessary communications to our practice in both incoming and outgoing fashions. All in an effort to gain payment for one unit of a copy toner (invoice was $152.11) that was never ordered). The foul language and aggressive behavior of this company guy take me to this point where I need to spread the word and file a complaint in the hopes to raise awareness.

Wrongfully sending and balance billing for a product that was not ordered and seeking collections via relentless phone calling and faxing to including but not limited to threatening and verbally assaulting staff members non-stop all day, while continuously faxing on a loop, interrupting urgent medically necessary communications to our practice in both incoming and outgoing fashions. All forms of patient care were not only disrupted but interrupted (e.x.: Telemedicine , E visits, In person communication, prior authorizations via fax, and many other urgent medical practice functions to supply the best standard of patient care) .

Please note for the record, This company was made well aware of the effects the sabotage they continuously inflicted on our practice( to inc front line medical healthcare professionals and essential workers as well as patients in need of medical care included, AMIST A PANDEMIC)....... all in an effort to gain payment for one unit of a copy toner (invoice was over $150.00, that was never ordered).

The foul language and aggressive harsh and dark nature of this company compelled me to take the time to spread the word and file a complaint in the hopes to raise awareness.

Due to the pandemic and our need to put our patient care above all else, we were unfortunately left only in a position to mail payment for a product we never ordered ,was never claimed and never used by our office just to be able to receive urgent fax documents and efficiently complete incoming and outgoing call. (They were faxing collection documents on loop to the fax and calling on loop over and over again)

It seems , in our case anyway, this company has won the battle, but as healthcare providers we will continue to redirect our attention to the war, to what matters most , our patient care and hope to continue to be able to do so without ever being forced by the hands of scamming company threats in the future.

I was still relatively new when Data Copier Products started sending invoices for toner, that was never received or ordered. Upon further investigation I discovered that past people who held my position had just been paying bills to them assuming that someone else ordered the toner. No one ever actually dug into it. It was discovered that at least once a year they would send out an invoice, 1 year they actually sent out 4 invoices. Now let me specify that the Toner they are sending invoices for is the big long toner for fax machines. So there is no way that we even used 4 in one year! Thankfully it has finally been caught. I have called and most recently sent letters trying to get them to stop, but nothing has worked as of yet.

Data Copier Products of Los Angeles

Got a call from these people claiming that the price of toner has gone up but many business' were not informed due to an error and that they would provide the toner at the per-adjusted price of 469 dollars. He made it seem like he was from Konica Minolta, our printer contract but at the end of the call said he was from Data Copier Products and someone would call to confirm the order tomorrow. After doing research online I found that the toner was sold at a HUGE mark up around 10x the price online. They were not forthcoming with who they were from the beginning and made it seem like they were someone with Konica Minolta rather then an independent business.
