So I got an email from this guy using Dr Ruben Brewer using outlook to my student email. I was appropriately hired by him and he will have someone text me David. David would ask me simple questions and later told me to add his bank details into my bank to transfer some money. Ruben had some grammar issues, but never called me. He was very rude and pushy, and told me to deposit a check. I did, but later was told to send $850 to a person named Crystal Stoner using this email: [email protected] & to this number: 1 (470)623-9886. My bank is not doing anything so they took money from me. PLEASE be careful

My husband (who works for Cal State Long Beach-CSULB) sent me a job notice from a CSULB student, Alexis Freeman <[email protected]>. I applied for the job by clicking on the link. It felt suspicious to me because they wanted my bank name, along with my name, email, and phone number. I googled the guy and there was no trace of him at CSULB, on LinkedIn, or other social media. I became more concerned because of this and the fact that they did not ask for a resume. There were lots of typos and bad grammar on the notice, but I thought, what the hell, they guy really needs and assistant, but later I thought it could be a scam. The guy who was "hiring" identified in the ad, Dr. Ruben Brewer texted me the next day. I texted him back asking him if he would like my CV. He called me the next morning. He had what I thought was a heavy French/African accent. I could hardly understand him. Said he would pay $500 a week to send his mail, buy articles at Walmart and send them out, and also make flight and hotel reservations. He said his account officer, Mr. David would ask me more questions. He wasn't interested in my email, but he sent me an email requesting the job offer acknowledgement. I told him I would get back to him with that by Monday. I became much more suspicious when there was no company letterhead or name on the letter. I think he just wanted my signature. He was talking about paying me and giving me access to his accounts. I was very inclined to hang up on him, but I needed a job. "Mr. David" texted me a few minutes later saying hi. Then he wanted to ask me some questions. I texted him back saying I thought this was a scam and that he should provide some proof to me that it was not. I never heard back from him, but "Dr. Brewer" called me a few hours later and wanted to know why I was calling it a scam. I told him he wanted to hire me without even looking at my resume. He wanted to argue with me and I handed the phone to my husband and he started asking him where he was from. He said he was from California. Husband said your accent is not from California, where are you from, and the guy hung up. My husband alerted his supervisor at CSULB that their job board is being used for this scam. We googled the guy and found our that he was also using Stafford School District job board also.</[email protected]>
