They said they were my computer support service. I asked, “Webroot.” they said yes. a lot of Russian porno was on my computer, bank hacks and my Microsoft was not up to date, similar to two other complaints here. They billed me $349.98; and I got the bill, it was not Webroot, I looked up crushvirus and saw that they scammed people, I tried to take the mouse control from the tec, but he would not let me, so I unplugged the computer and called my credit card co. They said they could not cancel the charge but would do a 60 day investigation. Crush virus called and told me I should not have turned off my computer. I told them I knew they were not Webroot, then they said they were 3rd party, and authorized. THEY CHANGED MY WEBROOT ID NUMBER TO ANOYHER NUMBER & the tech assist phone number to theirs in my notes,, then one of their techs called in a shaky voice “I am from Webroot”... I said, oh really you are calling from Anehiem, CA, you lie! He said, “it is an extension... oh why can’t you get it?”and he hung up. I emailed I wanted my money back. They called. I said I would call Webroot Monday to get a tech to fix their plunder. They said “you cannot call them, we are authorized 3rd party tech experts” I said”really. I just called their tech Dept.& they open at 8am central time.” Then he said he would refund my money... it goes on. So, if they did refund me, will find out Tuesday, I will change my credit card number.

Our company has had a somewhat similar experience with Crushvirus over the past two years. We were contacted by a gentleman at the beginning of 2019 and now again, in 2020. He never told us the name of his company and strongly inferred that he was working with Quickbooks. After doing a reverse phone lookup I discovered his company name and asked him why he said he was with Quickbooks. He then claimed that he is a Quickbooks Pro Advisor although his name does not appear on any Pro Advisor lists in the Hayward, California area. I was willing to pay his company to upload a new 2020 Quickbooks Premier version in order to have updated tax tables, which we were told that we needed to do. In the process of installing the new software, we were told that we had a corrupted data file that would need to be send to a third-party technical provider (Techaid), who could fix our data file for a rather exhorbitant fee, in my opinion. We were told that the data file had been corrrupted by some unknown virus in one of our office compuaters. I was told that I could pay $400 for one year of services or $999.95 for 3 years of service, which sounded like the better option, 3 years for the price of 2. After this process, i was obviously suspicious as to whether we had been taken for a ride. In contacting our local IT service company, they ran a scan on our server and found nothing in the way of any suspect virus as claimed by Cruschvirus. My next move will likely be to file a formal complaint with the Secretary of State in California. Don't fall for this scam like we did!

A warning from Microsoft said my computer had a virus and I needed to contact 855-654-1999 to see if it could be repaired. At that time it seemed on the up and up and I paid and received an antivirus app. For two years. Two months went by and I was on my computer and noticed someone else was on it because another cursor was on the desktop. I arrowhead over that foreign cursor and it said it was downloading Russian porn. I was alarmed and went to my phone to call the technician at crushvirus. His name is Rick at extension 1004. He said their server was hacked into and they needed to return the money I paid for an additional firewall. It was $350. He handed me off to a technician that supposedly knew how to refund money. The new technician Alex Wilson employee number mw1035 instructed me to go to my bank account while he was online and he would go to his company’s bank account. I could see he was into Bank of America and the last four digits of the account were supposedly 8981. I was to type in the amount of the refund of $350 Alex instructed me to type in 350.00. Which I did. I couldn’t see the amount as the screen went black. Next thing I see is my bank account with 3,500 dollars added to it. This did not make sense. Alex told me it was my fault that I typed it in wrong. I didn’t and argued with him and I admit I got huffy. He referred me to their book keeper Jennifer smith. She instructed me to go to Walmart and get gift cards with the overage amount. I told her like hell I was going to do that. Then I asked her to email me instructions of what she wanted me to do. I am still waiting for the email.
