Received a call saying they where from Center Point Energy, a crew was in route to disconnect my service at my residence. I responded our account was up to date and we didn't owe any payment, our balance is zero. They said they hadn't been paid and were in route to disconnect, I asked what I needed to do. They stated go to Walgreens immediately and purchase a pre paid Money Pack Card and asked how long it would take to get to Walgreens they would call and tell me who to send it to. I called Reliant Energy and they confirmed the scam.

3/30/2018 call advising center point energy utility was to be turned off at a certain address, knowing it was my child did not want this to happen to them. Was advised to go walgreen and purchase a moneypak prepaid card and not to advise them it was to pay for utility then they would charge a reconnect fee. placed a call to my child whom was in a meeting to call me back, they were so helpful and kind though the process taking every dollar requested. Later advised me that the process did not go though because of wrong amount and that refund would be returned the next day. When my child called her utility company they advised her it was a scam. I called the number back and was advised that the person I was talking to had been sent to human resources due to the incorrect fund amount amount.

A woman called from 1-800-332-7143, identified she was with Centerpoint Energy provided my address and a fake account number. Said it was the final notice before disconnection. Said she couldn't accept a payment, I would have to call 1-866-978-6360 to resolve. When I called that number, it played a Centerpoint Energy tone and then Sean answered. He said they had sent 2 notices via mail already, but the technician was already dispatched so would need to go in person to a location and he would provide a verification number. When he came back with a verification number, he then said the number didn't mean much. The location was a CVS near me. His instructions were to go to the CVS and purchase some Express Pay Money Cards. He indicated my total amount owed was $978.63 so I needed to buy 1 card with $500 plus one card with $478.63. He said when I had the cards to then call him back at 1-866-978-6360 extension 307 and ask for Sean Williams. He asked how long it would take, I explained it would be about 25 minutes.

Caller identified himself as a representative from center point energy and said I was 2 months behind on my payments and they were about to cut off power to my house if i didn't pay them immediately.

On January 30, 2018, I received a phone call on my home phone line, the person knew my full name and identified her self as a representative of Center Point Energy, claiming that my account was past due and my service to be interrupted at that moment if I didn't pay, she gave me the following phone # to call 1-844-348-6003 or that if I waited in line she could transfer the call to her collections manager, she did, now there is this very aggressive male persone on the line asking me if I wanted to resolved the issue, I hang up the phone and look on the screen of my phone to see what was the number where they were calling me, the number is 800-226-3545 the name that appear on the caller ID was "FL POWER LIGHT" not Center Point Energy; at the same time I was reviewing my account on line with Center Point Energy and it was up to date, no problem it all, they called me again, this time I asked them again if they were from Center Point Energy, she replied "YES", I request for her to provide my account number, and she disconnected the phone conversation.

In fluent Spanish I spoke with "CARLOS RODRIGUEZ" allegedly from Centerpoint Energy. I was told I was schedule for disconnect within the next 30 minutes and that I should call 844.348.6003.

Knowing it was an obvious scam, I did dial a few times to have fun with them and gave them fake information to see how they react. I guess after my name and number was not checking anywhere they just hung up the phone.

This person calls and says they are going to cut off your gas unless you pay an outrageous bill. Stated we owed Centerpoint Energy $989. I hung up and called Centerpoint and our bill is current. Beware!
