I received a call from a number registered as CenterPoint Energy Brazosport Service Center. The woman (spanish speaking) on the phone said that she was representing the energy company to let us know that 2 notices had been sent to our address regarding late payment. She said that the company would disconnect the service within the next 30 min unless we called the customer service number that she provided (1-800-958-0732) and that her call was just a courtesy call to provide a heads up.

We called the 1-800 number to find out what late payment they were referring to (as we had already confirmed online that we were not delinquent on any payments) and the person on the phone responded in Spanish as well. She said she needed our address and account number to confirm the issue. Once we said we would be reporting them for fraud, the woman on the line became irritated and started cursing, then proceeded to hang up.
