Was told to get into contact with this person through a text message about a potential job, with a ratification Cipher code. It was a text-based chat-2-chat session. We started talking, they asked my name, my email, the job and where I'm located. I told them my full name, my email, the type of job and the city which I reside in. Then they sent a company overview and job description PDF, then asked me to take a questionnaire to qualify for the position. The next day they told me I passed and offered me the position. They sent me an employee contract, a direct deposit form and a W4 form, from a different person named Stacy Clifford, all of which I filled out. They started off saying that I would need to go through a week's worth of training and orientation, which I would be learning their system. They said to start the process I would need to buy certain equipment for the position since it was a work from home job. The list of equipment included the newest Apple products with a bar-code printer and a 4-1 fax, scanner, copier and printer, along with a handful of programs. Then said "The working materials mentioned earlier will be procured using funds distributed by the company's accounting department either by mail or email. You'll handle the purchasing process from the vendor after making payment, and it's important to retain the receipt and payment confirmation until the materials arrive at your doorstep, as the receipt serves as proof of payment." they asked if I understood, which I said yes, then asked "Will you be able to make use of your credit card for this purchase? The card will be funded by the company, and you will be directed on how to make use of these funds to cover for the purchase." I said yes, they asked what card I have, I said Discover, they asked for my limit which is currently set to $1000, "Alright, I will need you to provide me with the login details to the credit card so our accounting manager can commence with funding the card as soon as possible. The login details are needed so the manager will be able to monitor and confirm the funding process accurately." I was hesitant, and told them that, but gave them the info anyway. Then said they were contacting the accounting manager, then asked me to provide a picture of the front and back of my card, which I didn't do. The Apple products that I were to purchase was above my current limit, so I asked if they were going to increase my card limit to purchase things, and they told me yes and to not worry about it, they then added their bank to my account and sent me $193.61 funds but was still insisting on me sending a picture of my card. I asked why they needed a picture of my card when they explained they needed my login credentials, and they didn't answer the question. I was talking to someone else during this whole transaction and they told me I was being scammed, to which I responded with "So I've been very professional up until this point, and I've been on board up until the point you asked for a picture of my credit card. At this point I believe I am being scammed, so I've sent a fraud report to the FTC, frozen my credit with the three major companies, I had a lawyer friend look over the documents and they found discrepancies: Typos, spacing errors and the CEO listed does not work for the company being hired to. If you're a legit company, I'm sorry, I was just advised by people who have studied law to avoid this. But if you're a scammer then I've already locked down all my accounts and I've already sent the $193 back to your accountant." Asking for a pic of my card is what made me think this was a scam.
