Found an ad on Facebook for the job. Played along for the heck of it. I wasn't convinced it was real because of the app I had to "contact the supervisor" on called telegram. I tried to play a long for as long as I could. Added as many screenshots as it will allow.

Same thing happened to me a few hours ago. I filed an IC3 complaint and emailed the company, hopefully they get caught.

Facebook work from home message in one of my groups, messaged and great promises if data entry clerk u tell she asked me to download a Telagram app. Then I knew something was cracked. I didn't download it but looked for ways to report this scammer. Frustrating to have people try to hurt you while looking for a job.

I seen an ad for data entry. He connected with me through the app Telegram. It was over the internet. He asked for my ID, my social security card, my account info for PayPal and Greendot. All of this, to set up direct deposit. He said I would receive a laptop & smartphone for my work. I never got it. He messed up my PayPal account so bad that I can NEVER get another account. I had to order a new card from Greendot and redo my password and phone number because he set it with the email address & phone number I have given to you. I managed to keep him from getting the money from me Thank God. I saved alot of screenshots of the conversation s & pictures he had me send.

On Monday 12/02/19 at 4:14pm, I was contacted by a woman named Pamela Peres. I was told a company named Capgemini wanted to interview me for a data entry/admin assistant job for $25 an hour. I was told to email the HR manager Mitchell Dempsey for an interview on Google Hangouts. Once the interview was done the next day she told me I was hired. Mitchell also told me that the company would be sending me a check to purchase office supplies since the job was work from home. The day after that, which is today on 12/04/19, she gave me a tracking number for the check. Mitchell called me on Google hangouts and messaged me twice to see if I got the check. I called TCF bank and they could verify the account number on the check was a valid account. I informed Mitchell of this and was immediately blocked on all platforms. Also the name on the check was Mr. Alex Morganson.

I applied for a Data Entry/Admin Assistant position through indeed. The next day I got a text message from an unknown number asking if I was still interested. I said yes. They then asked if I was familiar with "Google Hangouts", asked me to install it and explained that the interview process would be through the google hangout app. Once downloaded I was instructed to invite Mrs. Suzette Vanette (the hiring manager) by her email address ([email protected]). The entire interview was administered via text message/google hangouts. They explained that the world is constantly changing and that they were trying to change with it and that's the reason why the interview would be conducted that way. The interview was in three sets, each timed for 10 minutes.

I was to answer a set number of questions within 10 minutes and once finished sending my answer I was to type "DONE" at the end. Immediately my next set of questions were sent without a moment to spare. As if it was sent robotically. Two questions that stood out as possible red flags were- 1) what phone carrier did I use and 2) What bank do I use and how long had I been with them. Once I passed my first interview "impressively" I was to report the next day 8:00AM EST via google hangouts once again. The scammer arrived to the conversation 13minutes late (very unprofessional).

I was then told I got the job. They laid out all the benefits once again. Then explained my first task was to gather my home office equipment. I was told the company would pay for all of this. I was then asked if I wanted to do pay check or direct deposit. Of course I chose check first. So the scammer redirected back to buying materials. They emailed me my check. Told me to mobile deposit it and to send the deposit receipt for confirmation.

Once completed I was told out of the $3,950.00 sent to me, $100 was mine as a hiring bonus and $50 was petty cash and that I was to pay $1000 to a "private vender" through Zelle. This vendor was to install the company software on my electronics that I'd be purchasing (and hadn't even purchased yet). This is when I realized this was all a huge scam and researched the scams online. I have not touched the money and contacted my bank immediately to resolve this.

I also noticed she mentioned the main office was out of Mississippi when in fact Capgemini's website says their main office is in Paris. I was also never given a company website or employees to access, I was told they were updating it.

I just found out where I wrote my notes. They said the name of the Company was Capgemini. I received a text message on my phone asking if I would like to make $20 dollars an hour. And these adds just drive me crazy so for the fun of it I thought I would play along and see what this was about? So I replied it depends on what I have to do? And the person said to download GMESSENGER and Mrs. ? I have forgotten her name would contact me there that she was the HR Manager for the company and I would be entering data into the computer. She told me what to enter and within 20 minutes Mrs. ? was there and asking me interview questions and they were no different than any other interview questions and asked if I was looking for a job to work at home and I said yes. She said it pays $22 an hour but during your training period you are paid $20 dollars an hour. She said she had to act on this fast because there were other students getting ready to start the classes and wanted me up with them so we needed to rush to get my equipment purchased. She asked me to take this attitude test and the next day she said it came back 89%. That I was above average. So she showed her managers and said they were all excited for me to join their team. I was to communicate through messenger until 7 days of working with them and once they were done updating their website I would be given a link to their sever. To catch me up with the other group of people she said she would be mailing me out a check to cover purchase of the following items I will need in my home to complete the work. 1. Apple Laptop (Mac Book Pro 13 inch with OSX Mountain Lion) 2. Laser Printer (Apple Laser Jet Pro M1536dnf-(includes; fax, scanner, copier). 3. Laminating Machine (Scotch Thermal Laminator 2 Roller System (TL901). 4 Fellowes Micro-Shred Confetti-cut paper shredder (fellows power shred ms-450cs). 5. Jaba GN 120 (Flex Boom Headset). So they would be mailing me out a check today and provided me with the tracking number and to deposit it into my bank account once it arrives. I received a check on July 31, 2019 in the amount of $3,987.78 and took it to my bank and the first thing I did was to ask the manager if she could see if this check was legal? She came back and asked what if was for and did not have any information on the company so she suggested to go ahead and deposit it buy at the same time put a hold on it too. So that was what we did. The company then on 8/2/2019 asked if it was deposited and I said yes and they wanted proof showing in my account where it was. Then they asked me if I could start to purchase some of those items on the list and I said well the bank has not released the check yet it is on hold. The company wanted me to call the bank and see if they could release any of the money and I talked to the manager and she just felt like this was a bad check and thought it wad weird that they would have me buy the office equipment so I told the company no the bank will not release any money until the check clears. On August 3rd I was at the bank and the teller told me that the check did not clear and it was a good idea that we placed a 10 day hold on the check. So all of a sudden all of the people who were contacting me just disappeared? I have the returned check that lists a completely different company. I hope you can get these scammers who try to scam people out of their money. I almost fell for it because I am looking for a work at home job.

I was contacted via text message by a person named Bently Matt. He told me he was contacting me in regards to the Office Assistant/Front Desk position. He told me to add the account "[email protected]" to hangouts and she would be interviewing me and briefing me about the position. There were some spelling mistakes on the message, so I was already skeptical but I had been applying for a lot of office assistant/front desks jobs. The "interview" was conducted by Kimberly Lawrence she said "I am Mrs Kimberly Lawrence, F , age 41. The personnel manager of Capgemini company, Please introduce yourself indicate your location?" I thought that was a weird intro and conducting an interview via messaging was a HUGE red flag. She then told me "Your Main duties and responsibilities is to enter data into computers. This data may be text and numbers. It may relate to customers, suppliers and manufacturers and may be scientific, technical, financial or sales-based. The computer system dictates the way the worker enters the data. The system requires data to be in a specific format so it can produce material such as invoices and analytical reports. Can you handle that ?" and she told me the salary "The pay is $28 per hour, training is $19 per hour and will get payment bi weekly or weekly via direct deposit or paycheck, the maximum hour you can work a week is 45 hours. If you are employed you are going to be working as a full employee.

You will undergo training from your training supervisor, The first phase of your training will be centred on your mini-office set up and handling of tasks/assignments which will be done intermittently.

In the second phase, trainees will imbibe a direct-stringent approach in getting themselves acquainted with their office equipment (software & hardware) and company's payroll system. Also will they be assigned special projects to work on." The entire time we were messaging I was researching this company. The company was showing up legit, but then Kimberly started making a lot of grammar and spelling errors in the conversation, and any questions that I asked that didn't follow what she said were ignored or answered in a way that wasn't at all an answer for the question I asked. At the end she told me that they were going to offer me a job, and that they would be sending me a check to by office supplies. (I knew 100% it was a scam then. Big businesses don't just send out checks to people.) They got my address and name from one of my resumes (not sure how, maybe from career builder or Zip Recruiter), so they sent the check overnight via FedEx. This morning I was told to speak with [email protected] on hangouts and he would be my training supervisor. Mr Jacob is now asking if I have received the check and to deposit it immediately so I can begin training. I did receive a check via FedEx, but I'm giving it to the police instead of the bank. I also did some more checking, and I never applied for a job with the specific title "Office Assistant/Front Desk".

On Thursday, August 15th @ 4:03 PM I received a message from a person by the of *** *** and they began to tell me that they received my resume via indeed.com and wanted me to reach out to another guy by the name of *** *** to get to the interview process, which we did. After that he began to tell me that he will send my interview questions and answers to the bigger boss so he can review and tell me what he thinks and of course they wanted me on the team. Matthew then told me that they would be sending me a check via mail to start purchasing this equipment, such as a Mac Book Pro 13 inch, fax machine/printer, a pair of headphones and shredder machine. The check did reach me by fedex 24 hours later and looked normal and everything and he then wanted me to deposit the check into my account, and go to cvs to start and purchase 10 eBay gift cards of $200 each so that we could pay the vendors for the equipment and it can get shipped! If it was a real company they would have never needed to get any of there equipment from eBay or better yet send me money to get it !! So once I put the check in my account I then proceeded to cvs to get the gift cards of $200 and he wanted pictures of the back where the reception code is. I sent them to him one by one and he then wanted me to proceed to Walgreens and get some more, he didn’t want me to get them all from one place. Same thing for those as well and told me the vendors were processing everything and also wanted me to send $1000 of that to a zelle account for the last vendor. The next day he presented to send me another check, this time a lot larger but I was not able to process it and come to find out later that day they sent me a smaller amount of $2500 but still the same problem. Me and my mom looked into it because things were starting to get very suspicious and come to find out that this has been a popular scam with indeed specifically and many more going around and there was a whole page on google about peoples experiences with it and everything.... don’t trust this, if you receive a message like the whole I mentioned at the very beginning delete it and never respond and especially don’t accept any checks they want you to cash for any reason

Thanks.

I was contact by text message that said "Good Morning, I am Doris Matt, you are receiving this text in regarding the Office Assistant Position. I want you to download and setup Google Hangout and if you have one already use it, add this ID ([email protected]) for the interview/briefing and comprehensive job details." I did as such and then chatted with the person holding the email. He discussed the "job responsibilities", the "compensation", and "benefits". He then asked if I'd like to be paid weekly or bi-weekly, direct deposit or paycheck, and the name of my bank. I told hime bi-weekly, direct deposit, and the name of my bank. Then he proceeded to ask "interview questions", which included Are you currently employed?, Are you seeking for part time or full time job?, How would you describe yourself during work?, Do you have a Printer, Fax Machine,Scanner, and a Photocopier ?, Do you have an idea of how to use ms excel?, What is your typing speed?, Why should we hire you?". I answered them and he proceeded to say "You have done well so far and you seem like a perfect fit for this position I need you to hold on online because i need to forward our conversation to the Head Dept to enable them see if you are committed and good for this job." He later got back to me and said "Our Company Name Capgemini A global leader in consulting, technology services and digital transformation, Capgemini is at the forefront of innovation to address the entire breadth of clients’ opportunities in the evolving world of cloud, digital and platforms. Are you willing to work for the company from home online or relocate to Southfield, MI, United States, to work in an office environment?" I told him I could not relocate due to husbands job. They asked if I had an USAA account and if it was active. I said yes. He then said "To enable you sit for this job and position there are working equipment and software's which are required for this job and position this is because you will be working from home as all expenses are handle by the company, so there for the company will be sending you a check, this check will be for the purchase of all the working equipment that you need as you will be purchasing them from the company local vendor, method of purchase and means of payment will be made known to you when the check get to you, as you will be getting the check asap...You are advise to be here online by 8am Tomorrow morning so i can attach you to your training supervisor that will instruct you on the use of the software and he/she will be in charge of your duties is that clear?" He then said in the meantime all they would need is my name, address, and phone number. Which I provided and he said that would be all and to be online on google hangouts by 8am sharp the next morning. I said okay and then proceeded to ask if I could ask further questions. I said "Because this interview process is very different than anything I ever done, as I am use to having face to face interviews. Can you provide me with more information about the company and how you go about completing the hiring process." He then gave me the company website of www.capgemini.com and told me to let when I was done looking at it. I then told him I viewed it and he proceeded to say "My HR manager will reach you in person along with your Position offer-documents and your working paper's. Also they will put you through our company guidelines under US Human Resources Laws and Regulations. You would be eligible to benefits after 1 month of working with the company. I believe you understand ?" I then asked for his name, and the number and name of someone in the HR Dept. He gave me his name of Michael Lewis. I asked again what the number for HR was. He then replied and said "I will be here to answer all your questions If you are not comfortable with this process you can kindly pass the job offer." I told him I would pass.

Because I had a feeling this was a scam I was able to call the Southfield, MI office where I explained the situation and the secretary informed me it was fraudulent and has been happening quite often and they are trying to get it situated and apologized to me for having to deal with that.

I was contacted through text message by someone representing the “hiring manager”. They asked me to download the Google Hangouts app. I did so and was contacted by Jacob Williams. He told i’d be making $30/h as an Office Assistant imputing data in to system. He said that the company would send me a check to purchase software and equipment in order to complete the job. It sounded too good to be true but I was still very excited being that I have been unemployed for a long time now. He asked that I’d meet back up on the app at 8 am to be connected with a training supervisor. He said I would receive $15/h for training. That’s when I googled “CapGemini Scams” and everything that I read was the same.

I had applied to a position through Indeed.com and the company name listed on the posting was WSNLA. This should have been my first clue something was not right as I had attempted to do research on this company and could not find anything. I received a text message the following day from a Janell Giles who claimed to be with Capgemini (which is a legitimate company) and she let me know I would have an interview with Jennifer Soto and to login to Google Hangouts as this is where the interview would take place. Come to find out from Jennifer this would be a work from home position and I would need to purchase a list of equipment in order to begin the job. She informed me she was sending a check and instructed me to deposit the check and immediately withdraw the funds, which would be used to purchase the equipment from their vendor. Red flags and warning bells were going off all over the place so I decided to do a little research and sure enough there was story after story of many other people experiencing the same fake interview and receiving checks which they were instructed to cash and use to purchase equipment. I received the check the next day and it wasn't even close to looking like a legitimate check. I called the bank listed on the check and sure enough it was not a valid check. The scam is they simply want you to deposit the check and then withdraw the money before the bank is notified it is a fake check. You "purchase" the equipment from their vendor (aka the scammers) and are then provided with no equipment and once the check bounces you are also out the money you had withdrawn. They may also attempt to obtain your personal information by having you fill out new hire paperwork.

I received a text message from Alisha Wayne regarding an online position with Capgemini. She requested i download Google Hangouts in order to apply for the position. I set up the App and communicated with Audrey Loranger from their HR Department. The interview was conducted through the App by a series of question from Audrey. Once I completed responding the questions she indicated my responses would be reviewed by management and asked me to text her the following day at exactly 8am EST. I did as requested and she indicated I had gotten the job, she provided me with the job details and indicated they will provide all the equipment needed to start working from home. training will be done using Skype and that someone will be contacting me. I got suspicious when she indicated they will be providing me with a check that I was to deposit in my account they funds will be available instantly and I was to immediately let her know that they will assist me in ordering the material I would need including a Mac Book. I told her that i would like to speak to someone on the phone before I agree. She was a bit upset and said someone from the company will reach out to me to begin training. Once I told her that I believed this was a scam and I that had seen several other reports on this company I never heard back from her.

Company is headquartered in Paris, France with offices in 40 countries.

I was contacted via text message. I was told I needed to do an interview via google hangouts. I figured once I did that I would have another interview via video chat or phone. However based on 16 questions they hired me for an administrative assistant working from home position they kept asking for my full name and address so will all that I began to be spooked. I checked the Better Business Bureau this company isn’t registered so I knew it was a scam. Told them I was declining the offer and ended the conversation.

- Warren, MI, USA

The scammer contacted me via email.

It came from [email protected]. However, it asked to reach out to a Hannah Dempsey at Hiring Hangouts Email: [email protected] on Googlehangout. There was never a phone conversation with the person. The company Capgemini, I believe is legit because I went and visited their location. They advised me they would FedEx me a check and I should deposit it in my account to buy equipment. The check didn't come so I contacted Hannah via google hangout. She then advised me to purchase a business check paper and print out the check that would be mailed to me. Then take the check and deposit it in my account. I am ending the conversation with her because now I know its a scam.

Attached: Initial email from the scammer.

- Chicago, IL, USA

I went on line to apply for a position with this company. It would be a position where as I would work from home. They had me to deposit checks and make withdrawals in order to pay a vendor to purchase equipment, install software, and for their labor. The two cashier checks that I received were fraud checks and now the bank wants me to pay the money back that I never even got a chance to use. The money went to their vendor. I asked them why they could not send out it directly and they stated as a candidate for accounting they said this is the type of work that I would be doing for this company.
