Type of a scam Utility

Solar panel company

Like the above, individual was dressed like a utility worker. Told me electricity rates were rising ( which is true ), that his company was partially state funded, and was tasked by the state to find residents who qualify for programs to lower their electric bills. He booked us a follow up appointment the following day in which his colleague, brought up that this is indeed a solar company and that the "programs" were solar panels.

Individual was dressed like a utility worker and appeared to be from LA Department of Water & Power. He said we were using too much power. We recently had a new meter and rewiring done, we thought something was wrong with the job. He said there was a government program to help reduce the cost of our bill. He asked when was a convenient time to sign us up. When pressed for me information, he did not provide clear answers. He had no DWP uniform or markings. I asked where he was from and he said California Home Savings. When asked how this company was associated with DWP, he gave no clear answer. He said he was doing “community outreach” and that our neighbors had also signed up. He explained they would be back in our area later in the week to sign us up and get us a discount on our electric bill. He took our name and address. After he left, we looked up the company name. Appears they sell solar panels, however the website is extremely vague with very little information on what they offer.
