I was contacted through email about a job interview with a company called BWJ travel. I hopped on a zoom group job interview with this company. After the interview was done they said they needed $97.00 for errors and emissions insurance. I paid the money with my debit card. I was supposed to have a zoom call with them today 2/25/2025 but I'm cancelling because they're scammers. When I looked up the company name BWJ out of Glendale, California on the Better Business Bureau it says the company doesn't exist. Do not give them any money its a fake job offer.

*One of 2 Craigslist Ads "HIRING! Data Entry - Work From Home | $97k Pay + Bonuses/Benefits (District of Columbia)" and "HIRING! Customer Service - Work From Home | $127k Pay + Bonuses (District of Columbia)" posted online. Once replied, you set up a Calendly meeting. It's a Zoom call that had over 100 people. Jacob talks for about an hour, about himself, the company, the data entry and customer service (i.e. travel agent) positions. States how there's only 100 or so left & they'll be gone in 2 days. He talks about scheduling, having help, and really stresses company culture and how good theirs is so much better than others.

*Anyway, after 75 mins or so, he states how there is ONE THING we need to do before we get started. We need to be certified for insurance. He drops a link to a pay page and we're expected to fork over $97/mo, at this point. On 2-20-2025. I ask why this can't come from the first commission check and he states "its separate from that." He starts to thank his marks for giving over their money. Then, I ask (in the zoom chat where he is the only one allowed to see) What is the name of the company? He ignores this remark. We're all muted and can't talk to him (or each other) directly.

*On the pay page, I see ([email protected]). When I search for it, I find the website showing (2024 BWJ Travel, LLC). I search that name and a few scams come up. When I show the SCAM sign in the group chat, I am immediately removed from the zoom meeting.

I was reached out to via call and text for a zoom call that was “invite only” through calandly. There were over 180 people on the zoom. Host was saying you could make at least 3K a week.

As done by others, add was placed on Craigslist for working remotely at home doing data entry. Received email to do a zoom interview, which ended up being a group meeting about becoming a travel agent and setting up accounts for work through suppliers. Tried calling the phone number to ask a question about the destination they "assigned" me to, which was never mentioned during the zoom meeting or in training. and I got hung up on several times. That made me suspicious. Now to get rid of all of it.

I honestly was really trying to find a job so I overlooked all the red flags. First I got an email from Mirage Maps Travel stating how I didn’t qualify for one position but they wanted to interview me for another one they had available. Signed up for a zoom call on Calendly. I attended and this guy named Mark went on this whole rant about everything we needed to know and even gave false information saying the company was made by his uncle but then you see two other founders Jacob and Edwin. He was late to the interview for starters. He then proceeded to explain how his “license” could co-signed onto ours by working for the company so we didn’t have to attend schooling or any of that. We only had to complete job entry training. We had to confirm we paid $97.00 with a five digit ID number that we sent back into the zoom so he can confirm and set up our accounts already. No actual “interview” just jump right into it. For someone who really needed a job it sounded great until I realized it was too good to be true, I ended up looking up the business and tried to verify the information, all false.

I do not have to go over the scam journey as another person has perfectly described the incident. They first send me an email under the company name Elite Business Trips Co. it contains an invitation for a webinar. I then realize the actual company name is BWJ ( Book With Jacob). During the zoom session I am surprised that the voices of maybe over a hundred people are muted and only the co-founder speaks. It may have been a prerecorded session I am not certain. I am quite surprised at the smoothness of the hiring process. They didn’t even take a chance to get to know me or ask me questions about my work history. In plain words, there was no prior evaluation to determine if I really was a good fit for the position. As other people have already reported, the initial email tells me that the position I applied for has already been filled but upon reviewing my resume they decide I could thrive in another job they have available. Sound familiar ? Anyways, I end up paying a monthly fee of 97$ which was initially presented as some sort of booking certification. It then morphed into insurance expenses. Now bear with me here, how could this be ? I sent two consecutive subscription cancellation requests and I am waiting for a response. I will post updates here. To job seekers out there reading this post, as someone said, keep your eyes peeled, you never know what’s lurking in the shadows.

This guy, Jacob, is going around LinkedIn, InDeed, Zip Recruiter, and Craigslist offering employment. He does a phenomenal presentation, is an excellent salesman and conman. After over an hour and a half of building his character, company culture, and immense care for his employees, he says everyone needs insurance to work as a travel agent. I was on a call with 165 people and this guy collected $97 from most of them. I dropped off the call.

- Chicago, IL, USA • Jan 31, 2025

They list a job for data entry or travel concierge. Both groups end up in the same "interview" for the same position, which is a mass zoom call. There is no interview. The guy rambles on and on for over an hour and then breaks the news, it will cost you $60/month to work with them and you must pay right away.

• Jan 28, 2025

I was contacted by email by them, but im not sure where from. I just believed them when they said i applied. But my story sounds so very similar to everyone else.
Somehow during an interview i found myself behind a paywall and felt it was the only way out. My family said no way and I suddenly am looking for more info Ave boy did I find some. Many names and fake websites as a cover. It's a shame. There are so many of us. Surely we can spread the word so no one else gets hurt.
SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

This company is operating under several aliases. I found them through LinkedIn. I was scheduled for an interview only to find myself in an over-hour long group call. At the end of the call the individual hosting this webinar, Jacob Stark, then revealed that persons would need to provide a monthly fee of $59.99/m for something that he alternatively refered to as "Insurance" and a "Certification". This purchase is only available through their website. Attempts at finding clarification have failed, and finding online reviews about the company reveal this is not a legitimate organization. After they have failed to provide any answers to my questions, I told them that I was reporting their fraud activities to the various authorities that govern laws regarding such actions. I serve as witness from the zoo call to Jacob Salk successfully defrauding multiple persons at the end of the Zoom Call. I stayed so that I may serve as witness. I am reporting this fraudulent buisness to the FTC, The California DoJ, the BBB, The California EDD, the CFPB, The California Attorney General's Office, the IC3, and the Glendale Police Department.

I had initially applied through LinkedIn for a scheduling assistant job for a travel agency by the name of "Sterling Consulting Solutions", they had then contacted me through this email ([email protected]) the email stated that the position I had initially applied for was already filled but "they" wanted to schedule a meeting with me to discuss another position that matched my qualifications. I was then sent a Calendly Invite and was set to meet the "CEO & Founder" Jacob. The meeting was Via Zoom, and at least 30 other people were on that call. The call started off with some back history on the Company, according to him "Sterling Consulting Solutions" was founded by his Father in 1995. He never gave his father's name or even showed a picture of him on the three-page presentation. This was a brief overview of the agency and a picture of the supposed office. He then went on to say that he had been rated the "Top Travel Agent of The Year" and did not mention any committee that gives out that prestige or award. The company needed to hire on "50 New Travel Consultants", and the job explained seemed fairly straightforward. We would apparently be given a set amount of clients and that was who we would be working with. It was really made to seem legit in the initial interview. Then towards the end, we were all asked to pay $59.00 a month for our "Travel Agent Insurance" when explained it made sense as to why "it was needed" but then came the Onboarding. After onboarding, you're supposed to set up another meeting with Edwin.

All Onboarding Videos Are linked to YouTube, Halfway through you end up hearing the words "Starting your side hustle" and then it shows pictures of Jacob and Edwin doing their "webinars" which just looks like a small podcast setup. Unfortunately at this point, they did get the $59.00 but I wanted to give as much info as possible. The commission and payouts are explained very weirdly, and to register for direct deposit you would need to register all your "work and progress in the CRM" and then it would be evaluated by god knows who, and then you would be given your money "every Friday". That is as far as I got, however, when I realized I needed to get a new debit card and get back to the job hunt. I would also like to point out this job was being sponsored and advertised on Linked In.

i was looking for a work from home job. i filled out the application and had a zoom interview that seems legit. but i did more research and found out it was a scam.

I received an Email from Elev8Events. There website is ************************ on LinkedIn. The webinar that was associated with it was hosted by Edwin. At the end of the webinar for a variety of services I was told to subscribe at $49.00 a month or $339.00 a month. I did nothing except to exit the interview. After the end of the interview I received another email with a link to enroll. I am keeping the emails in a folder for evidence; but not clicking on the link to enroll.

On Monday, June 24, 2024, I notified BWJ by email to cancel my agency agreement with them to preclude a withdrawal of the annual fee schedule for debit from my bank account on July 1, 2024. This morning, July 1, I noticed they ignored my request and withdrew the annual fee anyway. I am a disabled veteran on a limited income and this payment was not in my budget for the month.

I got in contact with BWJ (Book With Jacob) Travel through a job posting on Indeed that was for data entry. They turn out to be a travel agency company (and their actual name (BWJ Travel) was not the job I applied to on Indeed), and offer their services (informational videos, support, booking software, etc.) to help you become a successful travel agent if you become an Independent Contractor (IC) with them. The deal for services was presented to me during a virtual "meet and greet" meeting. The options were a fee of $49 for one month or $396 for one year. On May 16th of this year, during the virtual meeting, I, like many others on the call, paid $49 for one month. At no point in time during the meeting did the coordinator of the meeting, Edvin Sarkisian (goes by Edwin), say this was a recurring subscription that would not cease until canceled.

Further, nowhere in the Independent Contractor Agreement and Terms, which I never signed, is it mentioned that credit card information is stored, saved, and going to be charged on a recurring basis. The only information they provide about fees is that they are "nonrefundable." The agreement also does not make obvious that you are are purchasing an ongoing subscription, especially since it does not explicitly state how to cancel the membership that you are buying. They very clearly want you to believe you are making a one-time payment.

On May 22nd, I texted Edwin (844.968.2892) saying thank you for your time and support but that I have decided travel agency is not for me. Edwin did not respond to my text.

On June 14th, I see a charge on my credit card from BWJ for $49. On June 15th, I text Edwin, Mary (818.698.0981), and Jacob (818.201.4699) that there is another charge of $49 on my credit card that I needed refunded, with no response from any of them. On June 17th, I called Edwin, then Mary, then Jacob. The numbers for Edwin and Mary did not even ring. The number for Jacob went to voicemail. I left Jacob a voicemail restating my issue and that I would appreciate a call back. On the same day (17th), I receive a text message from Mary to speak with her about questions I have. I reiterate to her the circumstances and requested a refund. Her response is that they do not issue refunds because "the moment you pay your membership automatically there are resources that are billed on our end that we pay for that are non-refundable," and that I should fill out a member cancellation form. I told her about how the IC agreement does not make mention of this, and how Edwin did not respond to my text telling me how to prevent future payments on my card, but that I will fill out the cancellation form. She referred me to send an email to [email protected] and that they would help me if they could.

The response in email was the same, that refunds cannot be issued, and explaining to me how a subscription works, as if I should have very obviously known I was purchasing a subscription. That the only way I could avoid future payments is by canceling. I responded by saying this was not stated outright in the IC agreement, nor was it verbally mentioned from Edwin, or by Mary when initially being contacted over the phone.

My issue is not the payment of $49 I made in May, but for the payment that I did not elect to make in June, that was charged to my credit card without my consent or knowledge that this is an ongoing subscription. My requests to speak with management are continually ignored.

This is very clearly a scam.

I was contacted via email, after applying for a remote travel agent position (pretty sure I applied on LinkedIn), by Edwin S (didn't identify his company position or identify anything else about himself). He told me I needed to attend a webinar in order to begin working as a travel agent at BWJ Agents. I attended the 30-minute webinar, and Edwin informed all of the participants that no start-up fees were needed to begin working here, only to later state that we would still need to provide an initial $49/per month fee, or $396/year fee to sign up as a travel agent for BWJ Agents. We were then informed we would receive a text explaining any additional details for this position, and Edwin tried to pressure me into paying the $396 up front. He basically ignored me when I asked to have at least a day to think over the offer. Everything about the interview and Edwin's conversations was very questionable, and someone on Reddit mentioned contacting their leasing office, in Glendale, CA, only to be told they had no record of BWJ Agents there. This is very likely a scam. I want to report this company to prevent others from losing out on a few hundred dollars or even their identity to who I believe are likely criminals.

They're a "travel agent company" that "hires you" and says income can be up to 150-200k/year. I saw a posting for a remote job on linkedin and applied. I was invited to the next step which was a group meeting webinar. A man named Edwin presented the job and at the end invited everyone to become a travel agent with them. IF, you paid them a monthly, yearly, or large upfront one time fee. This would pay for all the training and resources they'd give you to become a great travel agent and earn them commissions as well. They're awful, and praying on people
