I had put an ad for a telescope for $450 and received a text from the scammer. The scammer said his name was "Thomas" and claimed he was moving and was not able to pick up the telescope since he was "out of town." He offered to send a cashier's check. When I received the check, it was for $1590. When I asked why he sent a check for that amount, he claimed he was moving some other stuff and was arranging for a pickup at my house for the telescope and that I was to deduct the $450 out of the $1590 while the rest was for the pickup and shipping expenses.
