I am writing to formally report a fraudulent auto dent repair

incident involving an individual named Barry, who claimed to

be Tesla certified. The incident took place in Fairfax County,

Virginia on May 7th, 2025. Barry approached me o?ering

dent repair services under what appeared to be a legitimate

business, possibly using the name “Dent Repair” or DMV

AUTOBODY REPAIR. He claimed to be trained and certified

by Tesla to perform paint repair. Based on his claims, I

agreed to the service and paid him in cash,$400 after

negotiating. He initially quoted $950. However, the repair

was done improperly and caused damage to my vehicle. I

asked Barry what about all the extra paint on the car and he

said take it to Car Wash and it will come o?. If it doesn’t, call

me and I will take care of it. When I texted him that extra

paint didn’t come o? after the wash and the paint itself is

very rough, he didn’t respond and blocked me. It is clear that

Barry is running a fraudulent business. Please look into it so

he doesn’t scam others. Thanks!

We had a small scratch and dent on our SUV's front right bumper. As we were at a light this guy in a red pickup wearing a cowboy hat insisted he could fix that for way less than the garage would charge us. Said he worked at Dent Doctor (which we did not know about) and that he could do it as a side thing as he was raising money for Christmas. He had a young boy in the front seat of the truck. probably to pull our heartstrings about the holidays. He proceeded to pull into a shopping center parking space gave us an estimate and was pushy about doing it "today" Since we were going home we gave him our address and he came to the house and "fixed " it after first "ordering " the paint to be mixed and picking it up. The job was subpar and not what he claimed it would be. Now we have to redo it at an auto shop. He tried to push for a "tip". Our community is gated and only accessible if we say yes to the guard. We saw him go to other people while we were going into the supermarket. His name was Patrick but we asked for a business card and he said he had ordered some more but did not have any on him. No form of ID was provided. We got caught in the moment and scammed when we were usually very careful and suspicious.
