Man came to door, said he was doing job in neighborhood

and had lots of leftover asphalt and would give us good price on driveway.

When asked how much would be at his quoted price of $48 a yard. ( We thought it was cubic yard. )After paving 1/3 of driveway, using up what he had, he told us would be $10,700. We had only $1000 cash. They said they would do whole driveway for $35,000. We gave them all our card numbers and they were approved by their smartphone app. The next day we really had buyers remorse and followed a relatives advice and cancelled payment on all but the $10,700 for the work done. Then we finally found their phone number, which they had never given us (we got from the credit card co. )

Next we heard from them that their bank wasn't accepting any of our payments do to fraud alerts. Then the paving company asked if we had cancelled the payment ftom 2 different cards for the 10,700 work done. We said no as we hadn't cancelled them. Then we found out THEIR BANK had refused ALL of our credit card payments.

A man walked into our animal hospital and claimed he had some leftover asphalt from a job he did up the road and offered to pave part of our parking lot (just the mouth of the driveway which had a couple potholes). He gave a blank proposal for the hospital manager to sign. Unfortunately she signed it without knowing cost of the work. After the work was completed (which was much more than the area he offered to pave) he gave her a proposal for $7500.00. We feel we were taken advantage of and are not paying the bill at this time. We are asking for a w-9 and proof of insurance. They provided no address for their business.

I was approached by John Mesker with Asphalt Paving in front yard and he offered grading, paving and top coat for the for driveway at $12,500. He accepted a check for the full amount and grated and paved and said he would be back the next day to finish the topcoat. He cashed the check but never returned to finish the driveway. It was on February 18th, 2020 and now it is February 2021, almost a year later. I have called many times and always told that he could not work because of weather, baby birth, etc. In April he said the government shut him down because of Co-vid. I feel I have been scammed and he may never return to finish the work. He signed the contract with his first name only.and has said he lives in Ft Worth and the next time, he says Austin. We only have his phone number_817-897-5950.

Tues 9/3/19 *** ***, the paving contractor came to my house about 9:55 am and we agreed to pave the entire driveway for $5,500. He would not give a name for his company but from what I gathered, he was from North Augusta, SC or that vicinity. Wed 1/15/20 I had sent a number of photos to him by way of Texting. My daughter, *** tried to contact *** ***. I showed *** the contact with the paver and she called his number and got no response. She called him again pretending to have some paving done. He called right back but when *** asked him where he was located, he asked her why she needed it and then he hung his phone up. *** seemed to think the best thing to do is work thru a small claims court. She looked on line for him and she said there was a complaint against him in Columbia 3/18, Horry County 12/2/019, one at Camden 2/17/2011, Winston Salem Nov. 2016. Harnett County NC July 2016, Kannapolis 11/2016, *** June 26, 2018 by searching *** *** paving.

After a heavy rain part or the material on the driveway washed away and out to ditch and highway adjoining yard. Have photos but don't know how to get them to you with attachment below.

The victim, my grandpa (81years of age)whom suffered from a stroke 2 years ago, disabling him physically on most of the left side of his body, along with some mental aspects. Is being scammed by *** people & a *** "company" named "Asphalt paving", phone: 607-592-7101.

Now, he has received one paper receipt (that is utter garbage as you can see) in regards to work he had done on the driveway, back in june. Legit just added a layer of pavement/blacktop to an existing driveway. I called this number to clarify a few things, as I noticed some red flags within my grandpas checking account (I'm not POA, I'm only executive priv. w/shared account). 3 checks were made out to a "Rodney Cooper", Nov 19th, 2019, Nov 25th, 2019, and December 11th, 2019. For; $2400.00, $3800, and $3800.

My grandpa said this man stopped at the house 3 seperate times, saying the other check didnt work, and something with the taxes (idk he can hardly comprehend what folk tell him, and there is no paper trail, so its all verbal, HUGE RED FLAG).

So After calling this man, and clarifying he did indeed work for this "ashpalt paving", I did verify work he did back in June, though the check was made to an "Alex Cooper", unlike these past 3 weeks, where it was "Rodney Cooper" (with no work done clearly, its winter). He says on the phone, oh I have family, 4 children, the same sap story nonsense you hear from liars/criminals getting caught in fraud.

(I used to work in banking).

This is purely a [censored], taking advantage of my grandfather whom suffers from his stroke, it has made him simply unaware. The money is a loss, but awareness is to be made and to be provided, I hope NO ONE ELSE falls into this scam by,

Asphalt paving, with their scam invoice, and "family";

"Alex Cooper & Rodney Cooper".
