Type of a scam Rental

I received an email from a scammer in response to an apartments.com listing. He claimed that he was moving out of state for the next 4-7 years, had been planning on selling the house but wasn't getting high enough offers and decided to rent it instead. There were active listings for the sale, not rental, of the house. But on apartments.com the rent was listed $700 - $1,000 cheaper than houses of similar value in the area. He said he and his wife "didn't care about the money" and only wanted to find a responsible person to look after their house. He also referenced a Catholic charity organization's website that he worked for and claimed that as the reason he was moving out of state unexpectedly. After submitting a simple application using my full name, phone number, and address, he responded and stated that he had chosen my application. The scammer stated that he would send me a FedEx with the keys, a full description of the house, and the lease and asked for a security deposit that was "fully refundable" in case I didn't like the house. I called the number he provided and it was a "textnow" number. I did not proceed further and instead called the real estate agent that had listed the house. She confirmed that this was a scam and the house was in the later stages of being sold, in attorney review.
