Type of a scam Debt Collections

The call started out like everyone else’s, a robo call, the first call I didn’t verify the last four of my social security number and they said they could not discuss the account with me with out the verification but I got the lady so upset she let it slip that it was for a company called check & Go for $950.00. I told her that debt was not even mine and she said she would make a note of it and hung up the phone. After I got home I called Check & go to see if I owed them any money they looked me up and said I am not in thier system and they referred the information to thier legal department. And they sent me a email stating I don’t owe them any money. The third day I called I told the person on the phone I was not verifying the last four of my social security number. He told me it was for check & go and the amount and how I could take care of it. I told him that I have a email from check & go stating that I don’t owe them any money. And I wanted validation of the debt and by law they have thirty days to send it to me. They said check & go tried to send it to me six different times and maybe I moved; I told them I didn’t move and never got anything from Check & go. I also tole them I reported them to the Texas attorney general since the first call came out of Texas and I reported the to the CFPB FOR FRAUD. Then they said something to the effect that check and go would Probaly be sending me a 1099-c to close out the debt but the IRS would treat it as earned income and I would have to pay taxes on the amount they say I owe. I said I’m not paying for something that is not mine. I got my letter stating I don’t owe them any money.

I re stated the fact I want validation of the debt which includes the original copy of the contract with check @ go.
