I googled how to update my passport and clicked on the first link that popped up. It seemed legit enough for me to enter my information. Before paying but after hitting submit application, I felt like something was off, so I checked and was right. This is a scam. Do not trust.

- Columbia, MD, USA • May 23, 2025

This was the sponsored link on Google when searching for passport renewal. Site appeared to fill in information you would need for them form. They then charged my credit card and sent a packet of the forms to print out and you still had to submit by mail and pay for processing,

Website appears legit but according to scamadvisor it not legit, 22 out of 100 is their score. Website: https://apply.uspassportandvisa.org

- Voorhees, NJ, USA • May 22, 2025

This website pops up at the top of google if you google "passport renewal apply" which I believe is what I googled or something along those lines. These days we can be on autopilot when doing things and not realizing the severity of what the consequences could be if we type sensitive info and financial info to a phishing website. I don't even know what to do now. I got completely screwed by these scammers. DO NOT EVER USE A THIRD PARTY TO RENEW A PASSPORT. I LEARNED THE HARDWAY AND SAVING YOU FROM DOING THE SAME. JUST DO IT IN PERSON IF YOU CAN.

- Brownwood, TX, USA • May 15, 2025

I needed to renew my passport and accidentally went onto this website instead of the official government website by mistake. I did not recognize that it was a scam until after I filled out my information and my charge was declined. I submitted personally identifiable information and am kicking myself for not catching it sooner.

This website comes up as a top result for renewing my US passport

- Torrance, CA, USA • May 10, 2025

I thought this was the place to apply for a passport:

https://apply.uspassportandvisa.org/. It’s not the US department states official place, which I didn’t realize till the next day. so they have my Social Security number, my birthday, my old passport book number that I’m trying to renew, my parents' names, my address, my credit card info, etc.

I thought I clicked on the government website link to renew my passport online. I am usually very careful to double check website addresses, but I wasn't feeling well and was tired, preoccupied, and distracted and the website was convincing enough not to raise any flags. It wasn't until after I submitted my information and payment that I realized that I was on a third party site when I received an email from them. I have no way of cancelling the payment. I had to move all of my money to a different bank account and cancel the debit card used. This site now also has my social security number and my parents' personally identifiable information as well.

I shared the exact same experience as another individual, who posted the following: "I visited a website called USAPassportandVisa.org believing it was an official government website for passport renewal services. The website design, colors, and imagery closely mimicked official government sites, creating a false impression of government affiliation. While there is a small disclaimer stating they are "not associated with any government agency," this is intentionally minimized while the overall presentation is designed to mislead visitors into thinking this is an official service. I paid $67.88 for what I believed was passport renewal processing but later discovered I had only paid for them to fill out a form that is freely available on the official government website. The company deceptively presents itself as providing official passport services through its design, wording, and user experience. The site collected extensive personal information including full name, address, date of birth, parental information, and Social Security Number under false pretenses. When attempting to contact the company for a refund via their listed phone number, no representatives were available despite claimed business hours. This appears to be a systematic practice of deception as evidenced by multiple similar complaints on the ScamPulse.com website. I've initiated a dispute with my credit card company over the charge and am concerned about potential identity theft due to the sensitive personal information I provided under deceptive circumstances."

Represents itself as an authorized vendor for renewing passports, asks for personal information to effectuate the renewal, requests payment of the renewal fee, and accomplishes nothing to further the renewal process. In short, you pay them to steal your information and money, and for a form obtainable for free from the Dept. of State.

- Brandywine, MD, USA • May 01, 2025

The site essentially charges you to electronically fill out your passport forms online and send you a file to download. It’s not at all how the site presents itself to be. Also the email for support for the site isn’t a valid email.

- Milwaukee, WI, USA • Apr 29, 2025

They appeared to be an online passport application company. I entered my information and paid almost $70. Now they have my social security number, passport number, family names, birth places and even more information. It was a scam and I have nothing.

- Charlottesville, VA, USA • Apr 25, 2025

Same as others described -- I searched for passport renewal info, found this website that looked like an official government site, typed in LOTs of sensitive info (SSN, parents' names) and paid what I thought was a $67.88 fee towards the renewal. Turns out none of that is going towards my passport fees, and the form I filled out could have been downloaded for free, and now some scammers have my personal info.

Avoid this website: https://apply.uspassportandvisa.org

I thought it was a legit government site and tried to use it to renew my passport. $67 later I now understand that it was a scam.

- Quincy, MA, USA • Apr 10, 2025

It’s a website for passport renewal. I put in my personal information and from research it appears to be safe but they charge you for a free government form.
