The first message I received was…

“Hi MELINDA My name is Sandra. I'm reaching out to you because we recently received your application for the Remote Benefits Rep position and we would love to set up an interview with you via zoom for tomorrow. My hiring manager has tomorrow at 2pm CST. Would that time work for you? You're receiving this message from a recruiter/hiring manager at MSC Staffing. If you would like to stop these messages going forward, please reply with OPT OUT. Msg & Data rates may apply.”

I replied back and agreed to the interview, which I thought was weird happening on a Sunday. They replied back with this message.

“Ok great! I will get you on his schedule. Below is the meeting ID. You can use the zoom app if you have it or go to zoom.com, click join meeting and enter in the ID number. Please note the meeting starts promptly so be on time. Our hiring manager will be looking for good body language, attentiveness and note taking so make sure you're prepared to leave a good impression! Be somewhere quiet so you can take notes if need be. Please message me if you have technical difficulties and cant get on, or need to re-schedule.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME IS LISTED AS YOUR ZOOM USERNAME

DON'T FORGET IT'S CENTRAL TIME ZONE :)

Meeting ID:

Passcode:

I JOINED THE ZOOM “interview” AND WAS ON THERE WITH WHAT HE CLAIMED TO BE 300 TOTAL PEOPLE. HE EXPLAINED THAT THE JOB POSITION WOULD BE A BENEFITS ADVISOR/AGENT. AND THE COMPANY NAME WOULD BE “AO INTERNATIONAL” HE CLAIMED IT WAS A MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY AND THEY’VE BEEN AROUND FOR OVER A CENTURY.

AND THEY WERE BASED IN ARLINGTON TEXAS.

HE THEN DESCRIBED THE JOB POSITION TO US, HE SAID WE WOULD NEED TO MAKE A MINIMUM OF 12 ZOOM CALLS EACH WEEK FROM OUR LIST, AND EACH ZOOM CALL WOULD TAKE 1 hour to 1 hour and 45 minutes.

HE SAID IT WAS A REMOTE POSITION -FULL TIME, AND THAT WE MADE OUR OWN SCHEDULE. HE SAID OUR SCHEDULE WOULD BE BASED OFF OF OUR CLIENTS AVAILABILITY.

HE SAID IT’S WEEKLY PAY VIA DIRECT DEPOSIT. WITH A SALARY OF $86,000 ANNUALLY.

Then he said “WAIT THERE’S MORE! THERE’S A BONUS! YES, WE OFFER A WEEKLY BONUS THAT IS ADDED ONTO YOUR PAYCHECK EACH WEEK.”

HE PROCEEDED WITH “WE BELIEVE IN REWARDING OUR EMPLOYEES WHO WORK HARD. SO IF YOU REACH THE AVERAGE CALLS EACH WEEK WHICH IS CURRENTLY 18.3, YOU WILL GET A WEEKLY BONUS OF $582 EACH WEEK ADDED ONTO YOUR PAYCHECK.”

Okay, so now at this point… IT SEEMS WAAAAAAY TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!

I’m a single mom (I’m both mom and dad… 100% solo), who desperately needs a full time work from home job.

I don’t need scammers trying to take advantage of me & take money that I cannot afford to lose for a FAKE JOB!

He said we would need to “pass a quiz and background check that we would cost each of us $680”

Then he followed up with that “don’t freak out over that, we will help you with it. So you may not have to pay the full $680”

BY THIS POINT IT’S SCREAMING “SCAM”!!!

He told us to fill out some job form using a special link that he provided in the group chat (which I took a picture of him and the link).

I copied the link and emailed it to myself. It copied as a completely different link than what was posted in the chat on zoom, which is ANOTHER RED FLAG!

Needless to say, I will not be pursuing this “job” and will NOT be clicking that link!

The link posted in the zoom chat was:

https://form.jotform.com/233095449058059

I copied and pasted to my email and it showed up like this:

https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fform.jotform.co... />
Idk, if it changed from where I copied and pasted it… or if it actually entailed more than what he was telling us about?!!! Hmmmm…..

He waited until the end of the zoom “interview” to discuss the $680 fee, and kept telling us to not freak out about it, that the company would help pay for it, and part of the $680 would be used to pay for the background check and that they would “need” our “social security number for that”

NO THANK YOU!!!!
