I applied for a freelance editing position through what appeared to be a legitimate LinkedIn ad that took me to what appeared to be the Semrush job site. I filled out a form as well as a test assignment. The following day (yesterday), less than 24 hours later, I received an email from Anastasiia Bruk, Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist. The email address was [email protected]. The email said I "got the job" and I just need to fill out some forms with lots of personal information. It wasn't even a job offer really, it was just "your application is great, fill out these forms and I will send a contract". I asked for further information and it did not in any way ease my anxiety. She continued to say, "just fill out the forms and I will give you all the information". I reported the email as Phishing, and reported the ad on LinkedIn (the ad is no longer "up", by the way). I also noticed that the LinkedIn profile that was linked to from the email signature no longer exists (it existed yesterday). The "real" Anastasiia appears to spell her name with just one "i" on LinkedIn and the "fake" one had two. In any case, what is even more disturbing is that today I emailed what I thought is surely the "real" Anastasiia (or Anastasia) (at [email protected]) and the answer was still the same person. They actually keep emailing me. I wrote to SEMrush on Facebook but I am not sure anyone will respond there. I can't message Anastasiia directly on LinkedIn, but I messages another person at the company who still hasn't seen my message.
