Type of a scam Identity Theft
He said that my IP address needed to be encrypted with alphanumeric code and if I bought gift cards, he could use those codes to update my IP address and start to build a firewall. He showed me a picture of the world with lines to other countries and a picture of an interpol Russian terrorist that was the head of the hackers. As I was buying these cards, he had me text him the screen shots of the numbers and receipts sending me emails that showed he was issuing credit for the charges, but the credits never came through. When the fraud caught up with the cards and they were either overdrawn or blocked, he then told me to go to the ATM to withdraw funds to buy more cards. This was the signal that I knew I had been scammed. When I told him no, he told me to ask my family and friends for the money so I could get the rest of the hackers off my IP address.
When I got back to my apartment my laptop was running a program called Amazon Security scan, which I had no knowledge that it was installed. He was in my laptop and moving my cursor when I was trying to use it. And he had the camera on. At this I became afraid and called the City of Bothell Police, and filed report #22-2827 with Officer ****** took my laptop to Best Buy and had them scrub it and ensure any malware was removed.
The hacker continued to call me over the course of the next few days to coerce me to purchase more cards. He told me his job was in jeopardy and the case would not be able to be closed. Again planting the seed that there was no protection between me and the hackers. He had me talk to his supervisor: Sanjay Ahuja, who told me that it takes a lot of money to build a firewall, but he would be happy to make on for me tonight.
