Type of a scam Utility

I received a call from the same phone # as listed on my statement with Direct TV 1.800.531.5000. I was told that a promotional offer was available offering an upgrade to include premium channels. I was told that Direct TV and Amazon had partnered working together to promote Amazon's E Gift Card. To accept the offer the customer would pay a payment of $250.00 @ a rate of $62.50 per month for 4 months in advance using an Amazon E. Gift Card. Thereafter, the monthly payment would be the $62.50 for two years. I was given a confirmation code and told to call 1.888.314.0329 to Direct TV's billing department. When the # was called the Direct TV music, etc. all was the same as when calling Direct TV which would make one think it is legitimate. Once Customer Service was on the line you provide them with the promotion code and then pay with the E Gift Card. DON'T DO IT!!!!! ITS A SCAM!!!! When I asked about the current outstanding billing statement was told not to pay it. It then dawned on both my husband & I that this may be a scam. Notified Amazon, cancelled the ECard, notified bankcard, disputed the transaction.
