Offered a high paying work from home position. Contacted first by email. Then asked to download signal app. Sent employment documents that looked very real. W-4, background check, employment offer letter. All other communication done through signal app. Told training pays at $25 per hour, and once completed $29.95 per hour would be starting wage. Next, all equipment is to be purchased through their vender. Alm digital marketing overnighted a check to me for $ 6,900.; however the check is not from them. It's from a totally different company. J. A. Fritch & sons inc. this a sheet metal contractor company that is located in Peoria IL. I believe the scammer got ahold of a closed account information for the other company. Alm digital marketing doesn't seem to even exist on the ScamPulse.com site.

I had initially applied to a job through Indeed where I then received an email from that company stating that they were referring my application to another company, and I needed to set up an interview with the said company through an app called Signal. I contacted them using the phone number provided (2023690221) the person I was believed to be talking too went by the name Sherri Whyte and was the only person I was in contact with during this time. I proceeded to answer questions via chat where then I was offered the position, but I was never sent any official documents or employment paperwork after being offered the job all they wanted was my full name, address, email, and personal cell phone number. Sherri then proceeded to tell me they needed all this so that they could send me a check so I could pay for all the necessary equipment needed for the job and then I was just told to wait for an email but it never came and Sherri didn't respond when I reached out to them. I attempted to look up their website but when finding it none of the toggle buttons worked and it looked like it was poorly thrown together I also noticed that it was only created last year 2024 which alerted me that the company might not be real. I then noticed that the contact information only provided an email and an address upon looking up the address I was led to a UPS building and could not find any trace of the company I also looked up the cellphone number and noticed that it was registered in Washinton DC and not Arizona also it was registered under a different name as well.
