Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Had an item for sale on social media. Edmond Cooper asked to call and discuss purchase. He text me from on number and said he would send me a check and to mark the item paid. I told him no til we were paid in full. He kept telling the check was to be delivered and it finally came yesterday. He had been pushing me to commit to deposit asap upon delivery for days and it would clear in 24 hours. He then added that there would be a little extra to pay the movers. I was very concerned about that. The check came yesterday and the item we were selling was $500 but the check was for $1850. Also the check was under one company name but the return address was a total different company from a totally different state. When I called his hand on it he tried to avoid answering me and pushed me to deposit the check. It didn't bite and called his hand. He has now vanished. Surprise. He won't answer my text. It is definitely a scam. The two company names involved seem to be legit. I think they are being scammed too. Fixing to call them and let them know.
