I received this letter in the mail shortly after registering my new business with the state of Alabama. Believing that this was a mandatory fee I had to pay regarding my business, I gave them a payment of $90.50 via check- one of the two payment options (check or money order), and sent it with the bottom half of the paper inside the envelope they provided. I was unaware of this scam until someone in my Facebook Business Group presenter a picture of this exact paper within their own state speaking out about this scam. There were hundreds of members who commented as well who have had the same experience. Now I am left with the hassle of changing my bank account numbers, transferring funds, changing credit/debit cards because the scammers have cashed out on my check and now have my account and routing numbers. I am very disappointed that, as a new business owner, I have been targeted from such a heinous crime and have lost those funds and unable to receive them back from bank because it was issued in the form of a check. I hope that these scammers will be stopped and I will help out a stop to them by filing a police report and doing whatever it takes to fight people like this.
