Type of a scam Employment

I received a text from someone stating that they were responding to my resume on an application and were offering me a work from home job as a data entry clerk then after the fraudalent interview held they starting sending mixed messages that weren't clear saying they would mail me the equipment and a check to purchase software then I knew it was a scam when they said they would send me a check to be deposited or cashed and I then would buy the equipment and software programs from a "vendor that always use" because they are "trustworthy vendor" therefore i should be buying all things through only this vendor then I knew it was a scam anytime someone mails you a large check and asks that you deposit or cash it it's almost sure to be a scam. Be careful and the same people are still contacting me multiple times a day every single day with different phone number, different names, different company names, different emails but all the EXACT SAME format.. it says something like this "good morning (my first and last name) this is (their first and last name from (the company's name is ALWAYS in parenthases) and we are offering said job position and would like to set up an interview through email, video or hangouts... if you are interested in a position reply ... YES"
