I was on my IPad when a message said that my iPad had been compromised and I need to contact tech support immediately. I was connected to ACU Technosoft rep who told me they could fix my iPad for a one time fee of 34.95 . I agreed and gave them my debit information. All the tech did was have me clear the cookies and history. It did clear up iPad, but There wasn't really anything wrong with it. They sent me an email telling me to install a pop up blocker from the App Store , but it was just a free trial. Then the next day ACU debited my account again for 34.95 when I called them back and asked them why they debited my acct again the rep told me he didn't know and asked me for the receipt number I told him I didn't receive a receipt for the second charge he wanted my card information again when I refused to give it to him he said he couldn't tell me why. I told him I felt like I was been scammed and was going to get in touch with the ScamPulse.com he told me to go ahead they didn't care.

While on*** on my *** IPAD I clicked on a sidebar "trending news link". I then had about 4 different boxes pop up, then a long pop up box that appeared to be an Apple Technical Support blocking me from any further damage. It warned of identity theft and that my device had gotten a virus and that I needed to call an Apple Technical Support team to better protect my identity and financial and personal information.

I called and in retrospect their "support" was not truly anything more than asking what I had clicked on, asked me to verify what model of iPad I had, then said I did in fact have a virus and that the normal charge of $400.00 was waived because I had apple care coverage but I did have to pay 29.95. My red flags were going off when he said he could take payment over the phone. While he waited for my credit card information to be entered into the website, he stated he was "working on the issue" once I had clicked submit....it was amazingly done in a matter of a minute and he had me clear my cookies, history and turn on and off my "block pop ups" tab". Then he told me to shut off my iPad and power back on in 3 minutes.

I had immediate regret and every fiber of me felt it was off and I am kicking myself for not following my instincts. The things he had me do was something I simply could have handled on my own. I should have hung up.

They give a website to take payment that looks disturbingly close to what the real apple.com would look like only theres is called appleconnect.net.

I immediately called my bank to cancel my card so if this is in fact a scam nothing further would be compromised.

It felt like a scam the entire way through and if it is not...then I would sincerely hope they change their sales, communication, support system to ensure customers are completely safe.
