My mother couldn’t login to get Amazon acct, so she called their customer support (however I believe this was a mirror website that looked like Amazon). The young man on the phone - Amazon support - told her thst her acct had been hacked and that he could help her get her computer cleaned up. He then remotely accessed her computer and placed an icon on her computer for AB Solutions Inc on her desktop and said for $199 plus tax they could clean up her computer. They didn't ask for money but rather asked her to give them the check number of the check she would be using yo pay the invoice she would receive by mail. At some point, while looking at her computer, he verified what her Wi-Fi name was - which he was seeing on her PC. He then told her a young lady would call and work with her in getting her computer cleaned up of ant malicious software. The woman called loaded some software on her PC and it started running. At the point my mom called me, the program had run for about 15 minutes. While she and i discussed the whole situation, the program probably ran for about 1 1/2 hours. I convinced my mom thus was very unusual and she should stop the program and turn off her conouter. I am very concerned that her identity may be at risk. I wanted to report this ASAP.
