This company sent me a text which I thought was from ADT. A sales rep came out but had no business card. That was the first red flag. Then he told me that he was an authorized dealer and not from ADT. He said that my system was installed by a 3rd party called Defender or something like that. I said that doesn't seem right. So, I told him I didn't want anything until I have more time to research and contact ADT. I contacted ADT, and they told me that my system was installed by them and not by any 3rd party. Scary that I had this person in my home. And scary that they had my home address & phone number.

I received a message from this number which stated my ADT alarm system was an old 2G/3G which needs to be upgraded to 5G at no additional cost. An appointment with a technician was scheduled. When the technician came she stated my ADT system is not working since 2020. She will upgrade my system to a new 5 G system. My monthly bill will be tripled. I declined and then called ADT. ADT said they did not send technician to my house for upgrade. Clearly this is a scam. The sender had my phone number and knew the date when our ADT home-security system installed.

On Sunday, 4 June 2023, at 1:32 p.m. CST, I received a text message from telephone number 888 576 4289. Oddly, I became aware of the message on Wednesday, 12 June 2023. The sender obviously had my mobile phone number - and knew the date in 2019 that I originally had my ADT home-security system installed in my then-new home. I called ADT. Of course, ADT did not send such a message; the representative told me that isn't their business practice.

I called my local police (Oshkosh, Wisconsin) to report this imposter scam.

Misrepresented themselves. I responded to a text message I assumed was from ADT about getting a free doorbell video. Then they came and lied and said my current ADT panel was out of date and I needed a new panel to update it. Because (as they claimed) ADT used a third party, the only way to update our system without paying lots of money was to upgrade through another company because ADT wouldn't allow us to upgrade through them because a third party installed our ADT system. Then he said the contract said we had 3 days to get out of it but the guy told us that wasn't true it is actually 30 days. We called to cancel with ADT as instructed to do in 4 days and ADT said our panel was up to date and didn't no anything about what we were talking about. The customer service rep did say another caller had called and told us a similar story about the deception used by Safe Home Security. When I called Safe Home Security to cancel they wouldn't because it was one day past the three and said they didn't understand why we were told 30 days because that wasn't true. Now we are stuck owing ADT money and being stuck with this new company that lied to get business unless we pay them 90% of the contract.
