We received a letter from not anyone in particular, just stating that we were being informed about an important matter regarding our property address, which is correct by the way, which is secured by our current mortgage company and it states we reserve the right to revoke allocated waiver after seven days of receiving this notice and it is a final attempt to contact you to notify the number 1-800-916-8689. Looked a little sketchy, but I’m glad I searched it tossing it in the trash.

I received a letter in the US mail that stated I was having my allocated waiver being revoked after seven days unless I called the phone number provided. They sent what looks like to be a check that says this is not a check with my name and address on it. This is definitely a scam.

Letter stating I call immediately to 800-916-8689 to inform me about an important matter regarding my property.

- Crossville, TN, USA • Feb 24, 2025

Received a notice in the mail with the name of our lender and a check for $199.00. The notice claimed that it was the "Final notice" about an "Allocated Waiver", that immediate response was requested, and that they reserve the right to revoke the allocated waiver after 7 days. "Please call IMMEDIATELY as this will be our FINAL ATTEMPT TO NOTIFY YOU 1-800-916-8689". In fine print below the check it said "Not affiliated with [our mortgage company]". We did not call and shredded the notice. This is an obvious phishing attempt, since they say "Call to verify the above information".

Final notice letter without identifying who the mailer is, except mentioning the bank name where the loan originated. The letter says "we reserve thr right to revoke allocated waiver after 7 days of receiv8ng this notice." It urges to call the 800 number. It also includes a fake check for $199.00 with a note at the bottom stating "this is not a check".

Also, the mailing comes as presorted first class, U.S. postage paid, permit number 1535.

Their Mail targets vulnerable people who may be unaware others attempt to pose as a lender associated with the recipient of said mail. Attached is a “check” that appears as if it were a refund or some type of waiver. This is a ruthless scam that puts people’s sensitive information at the hands of malicious intent.

- Sioux Falls, SD, USA • Nov 19, 2024

Received postal mail that looks like a check for $199 that says 'Allocated Waiver' stating they have important information about my mortgage with CorTrust Mortgage - an 'allocated waiver' that I must respond to in 7 days.

- O Fallon, IL, USA • Nov 08, 2024

I did not call the phone number since the letter is very suspicious. There is no return address on the front of the letter, which I thought since 9-11 was not permitted in the USPS mail system. There is only a phone number, no website, no name, no address, nothing else to identify the company.
