The claim that they had information about my tax status was very disturbing because it suggested to me that there may be someone possibly stealing my identity and creating tax problems for me.
I called the number because I wanted them to tell me exactly what information they had relating to any tax issues in my name.
The person I reached offered to take me off their call list but refused to divulge any information they had about me.
When I tried to insist, they hung up on me.
If this was a 'legitimate' business trolling for customers, I believe that they have stepped over the line of what is appropriate by claiming to have inside information on my circumstances in an effort to scare me into working with them.
If they actually had information to indicate that I needed their services I feel that they should be required to provide me with that information so that I can take the appropriate steps to protect myself.
Leaving me in the dark about what information they do (or do not) have has left me in a very agitated state of mind where I don't know how to proceed to discover what (if any) fraudulent practices are being committed in my name and by whom.
I hope you can track this company down and deal with them accordingly, at least to correct their phone practices for the peace of mind of future recipients of their contact efforts.
I know for certain that I have no tax issues to resolve from my own actions. If any exist they were fraudulently created by others.
