My wife and I found a Westie puppy online (allegedly named Cooper) that we took a shine to and decided to buy. The website was listed as https://www.westhighlandterrierpup.com/. I see that our story is almost exactly the same as others reported here. We started the process on March 24, 2021. The puppy’s price was $750, and it said to add shipping $150. I was instructed to send $900 via Zelle to Amber Shuler, who gave an email address. I had to send it in two installments, because the total, $900, exceeds my daily Zelle limit. I continued to text ‘Amber’ at her South Carolina location. I was asked if I used Zelle. Eventually I was told that the shipment had been set up. Then I got an email from AKG Courier Service LTD saying I needed to pay pet insurance for $1500 that would be refundable. ‘Amber’ told me by text that it was all legitimate, so I paid the $1500 (in three installments, to a ‘Breonna’ at two different email addresses). The courier’s website showed a delivery time, so we still trusted that the puppy was on its way. Part of the apparent credibility came from the fact that ‘Amber’ claimed to have a sick daughter in the hospital, and she said she was (and seemed to us) distracted. Today (March 27, 2021) I got an email from ‘AKG Courier Service’ saying I had to pay another $1750 for some other missing document (“CITE”). We’re apparently out $2400, and we’ve filed a police report.
