I was trying to renew my passport online in USPS and i was directed to the wedsite uspassport-online.org because i was eligible to renew online only. I clicked and entered all the information, charged exactly the amount to renew my passport and card, they even offer insurance if you ever lose or damage your passport. I end up paying 218.00 for everything. they mislead me making me believe the payment was for the actual passport and card. at the end, the 218.00 was for the form only. That is not what the website stated.

Site is a third party acting as the government's site. Charging a high fee to fill in basic information for a passport under the pretense that it will cover the passport fee.

- Croton On Hudson, NY, USA • Jul 31, 2026

This site is marketed as a passport renewal website; however, it is deceptive in its appearance and wording. It looks like an official government site and there was a point during the application where a green box popped up and said "you are eligible to renew online." This made it seem like by filling out the application and submitting the payment I would have my passport renewed. It was also the first website that popped up when searching for passport renewal online, again very deceptive. There is no phone number listed to contact the company. I sent numerous emails to the email address listed and have not gotten any response. The listed street address seems false as it is the address of the Empire State Building. Do NOT use this site, be very careful when searching for online passport renewal. Make sure you use the official government website ending in .gov.

This site came up as a top hit when searching on renewing my passport, and I thought I was renewing my passport at the official site. Turns out they took a LOT of information to just fill out the government form which they sent me by email, and now I still need to go to the (real) government site to pay again to renew my passport. Very deceptive. And they took a LOT of personal information I thought was needed to verify my identity for the online passport renewal, but then wasn't included in their form. So I suspect that info might now be sold somewhere. VERY upsetting.

This website is the first that populates when searching Google for "US Passports online." This looks like a US Government website and only has small print at the bottom that says that they are not a government website. Once all of your PII is given, a PDF of an application is sent to your email.

I thought I was filling out the application for passport renewal until I paid $247 and then received the passport application to print and sign that also demanded another $130. I didn't realize I wasn't using the US govt official website.
