I was checking my bank account summaries and saw a recurring debit of $28.75 for each month from August through December. I didn't recognize the name and I called the bank to ask about it. The girl at the bank did some research and said she didn't think it was a scammer. She then gave me the phone number and email she had found for the company. I called the phone number and the girl that answered the phone, immediately after saying the company name, said "Are you calling about your account?" I said "Yes." "Is this about the $28.75 we debited from your account?" "Yes." "Okay we'll credit your account for $28.75." Before she could hang up I shouted at her "Wait, what about all the other debits on my account!" "Okay we'll credit you for those as well." Obviously she takes calls for this all day long.

The next day, I saw that I had an email from them saying that my account had been credited for $28.75. I looked at my account and saw that that is all they had debited me for. I replied to the email and asked where was the rest of the money they owed me for those 5 months. I said that I showed that they had debited me a total of $145.75. I checked my account later and all the money was credited back to me, which included the initial $1 fee. Thank goodness I got my money back.

I must have ordered something when looking for a new car in August. That's all I can think of. Maybe it was a Marketplace or Craigslist ad or something like that.
