Type of a scam Tech Support

I purchased a new Apple computer and Microsoft Home and Office product to install. I initiated the install process and immediately a page opened up and said there was an error and to call the number on the screen. I called the number and a man answered, not saying even the company name that I was calling and did not introduce himself. I assumed I was talking to someone from Microsoft. He said he would look up the error code. He then indicated that it was a code indicating that there was an issue with my internet and that it was not secure. That is why the product was not installing. He could fix the problem and needed access to my computer. Unfortunately I believed him and let him install a product called Webroot, he told me that it would protect all users in my home and secure the wifi. After about an hour it was all installed and he then said that I should call my bank and authorize the payment that I would be making. I got a bad feeling toward the end of all of this and especially when he said that. I did not call my bank. I got an email shortly after the call ended that asked me to call my bank as the charge was not going through. I did not call the bank. I got a call from my bank the next day from the fraud center asking if I wanted to authorize the charge, at that point I had done more research and told them that I do not authorize the charge. I contacted Webroot as well and confirmed that the product that was installed was a fraudulent product and the key code is used an excessive amount of times and that indicates it is fraudulent. Be aware of pop ups when trying to install a new product.
