"Attention this message is intended for [NAME} also known as [NAME}. This call is pertaining to case number 2024-406047. My name is Jennifer Crawford calling with PSV. This call is notification that attempts will be made to issue certified legal documents requiring your signature. If you will not be available to sign or have any changes that need to be made to your time date or location of service. For more details. Please contact the issuing firm that is handling your case. Their number is 855-316-4204. When calling, please reference your case number. Failing to contact the issuing firm may result in a failure to appear to be issued in your name. This is a very time-sensitive matter and you have been notified."
I called the number provided and spoke to a man named John who would not provide his last name. He claimed this was in reference to a bank account that was closed in 2007 and settled with a 3rd party collections agency in 2011. He said I and family members would be served legal papers if I didn't pay $26,000 to settle the debt. When I asked for an account number and questioned the company name he provided, Barrington Financial, he yelled at me and quickly hung up the phone. After discovering others have been victims of this same scam, I felt it should be reported.
