I did not tell my son how much I gave only after the fact that I was scammed by her! After giving her the money my son and I visited her two or three times for no longer than 15 minutes or even less. She had other people waiting t see her outside that made appointments. On the last visit she gave one big candle and said what needs to be done and she wrote it down on a pieces of paper — that was the last time we saw her. After that we tried calling and texting her with no response. My son did leave a message on her phone and asked her what’s going on, how to proceed next and asked her why she doesn’t respond to our texts and calls. The next day she called back and said she left the country and that she is in Israel and that we can touch base next day at 1:00 pm — which never happened. We tried calling and texted her with no response from her.
My mother recently went on Russian TV (RTVI), told her story how she was scammed and by who and only after that she started calling and belittling my mother and asking to meet her (before we tried calling and getting in touch with her with no response from her) but since this got her attention she was calling non stop. She said she never thought my mother would go on public TV. Furthermore, because my mother reported her story live,
other people have contacted my mother who were also scammed by this person. We have another person (we have her name and telephone number) that came forward and was also scammed by Mrs. Elya. She took $5,100 cash from her and did not provide a receipt. People that this has happened to don't know where to go and to who to turn too. Police didn't take a report
since there was no receipt. We also went to 48th Council, District, Brooklyn representatives and they are all busy - it is so hard to get an appointment - we were promised to get a call back to schedule an appointment but Inna Vernikov office never called us back. Where is a victim of this kind of a crime supposed to go? She still operates to this day and there are lines of people in-front of her house. She is charging crazy amounts of money for nothing and I bet is not paying taxes. She is also still advertising on Russian television, newspapers and there are posters i the neighborhood of the services she provides but never does (please see attached documents/proof)! Right in the middle of Brooklyn crime/scams is being committed everyday and their is no one to turn too.
