A woman claiming to be our daughter called saying she had been in a traffic accident, that she was injured with a broken nose. She said she couldn't use her phone so she was calling from another number. She said the accident was not her fault, the other driver ran a red light. She said the other driver was a woman who was 6 months pregnant. She was crying. She wanted us to talk to the police officer to see when she could go home. The man who came on the line said our daughter was not at fault for the accident but she her breathalyzer showed she had been drinking. He asked if she was a heavy drinker. He said she said she taken cold medicine, which contains alcohol. He said he believed her but she would have to have a blood test done. He said he hoped she could get it done so that she didn't have to spend the night in the holding cell. He said she had injuries and she would have to go upstairs but not to a holding cell right then. We told him we were not in the town where our daughter lives. He said she had her lawyer there. When the woman came back on the line she talked about paying bond, and that she would pay us back. We asked about the lawyer and she said he would call us. We got another call, from a man claiming to be a lawyer. He said we would need to give him information because we didn't have the case number. He said the call was being recorded and monitored. He asked for our full names, and I told him we knew it was a scam (we had our daughter on the other phone by then). and we hung up. I became suspicious when the woman started hinting that we would need to send money. And when the police-imposter said that he didn't realize we were in XYZ (he misidentified our place of residence with another, a common mistake based on the location we had given him, explaining we weren't geographically close to the area where are daughter was). Also, the woman didn't really talk like our daughter. The first scammers used 806-302-3739 and 806-652-2157. The fake lawyer said his name was Michael Rivers and used the phone number 973-688-1444
