At the end of 2022, I received a call from a “collection” agency and stated I owed 5,000 for a loan I defaulted on 2002 from some furniture store. I asked for more information. They gave me my mother’s address from where the load originated from which is in Bogalusa, LA. I was living in Lake Charles, LA. A few more exchanges and I told them there was no possible way and I’m not paying it.

Today, March 27, 2023, I get a phone call from a LA number, I answer and the lady asks if I will be home between 1-4 to receive my summons. She said I should have received notice within the past 30, I explained I have in fact, NOT received any paperwork and can she give me more information. She gives me the 866 number to Preston & Associates, they will be able to help me further. I call, spoke with one gentleman and without any indication was transferred to another gentleman. Having a civil conversation with “Mark Davidson” was a no-go. He told me that I was just upset that I got caught up with, they hear the excuses all the time, I have been dodging them and now I’ve been caught up with. They were going to get their money from the equity in my house, that they had to authority to sell my house to collect. There were other exchanges but I was so upset, I forgot most of them. Now I’m frantic, having me second guess could I have done this, what’s gonna happen now.

I call at 3:45 the ORIGINAL number from the process server company, transferred me to my case manager…the same man that was from the SECOND NUMBER I was given that was so rude. I asked did he have a timeline because it was almost 4 and what is supposed to happen now. He said they have up to a week to serve, so I told him she specifically said today between 1-4 and he said “well, what do you want me to do” Now I’m really upset, I have class during the week and may not be here. How will I get served? When is the court date? It could be a week from now and I don’t have any paperwork, now I don’t show up to court and now the judge has put a bench warrant out for my arrest.

So I start thinking that if he worked in an attorney’s office (as I have) there would be no way he should be talking like that to people. So I start digging for the attorney’s office and come across this site. What a relief! But what now? Is there something we can do? Has anyone filed any charges against this bunch?

Please help put my mind at ease. I know this is a scam now but I am still so rattled. They should not get away with this.

Got a call from a lady that said she was on the way to serve .e papers I told her I didn't live there anymore she gave me Case Number and a number to call 866 506 0835 a man answerd and said Preston & associates he got off the phone a few minutes to get someone to help me came back said they were tied up he could help me and he said I owed a bill from 1999 for a 7000 dollar credit account they wanted 13000 but they would settle for 4000 if I made payments . But I knew I never had any credit account then or before that . I told him he was wrong it's a scam he got mad started shouting at me how he knew I did and didn't want to pay made some threats of garnishment on my driver's license and property I own knew what kind of car I have and my dob I gave him a few choice words and hung up . I made 13.000 dollars in 1999 no way I got a 7000 dollar loan or credit card.

Glad to know that PrestonScott & Associates is a SCAM! I called the number they left 855-515-6777 6 times. Their line rings and just when I think someone is going to answer, I hear a CLICK! (6 times).

Tried to say I had a debt owed from a purchase I made in 2007. Wanted to set up payment plan. Called my lawyer and was told this is a scam. I was told by Preston Scott Associates that I would be served on wed from a Monday call if I didn't pay or set up payments but the debt was fake. They knew I had done home repairs through home depot 14 years ago and said I still had a balance. Tried to get me to pay through intimidation.
