Went to a website called myprojectfreetv in 7/25/2015 and a pop up came up saying my computer was infected and to call the number and person scared me saying if I did not pay 270.00 and 8 pos fee they were going to destroy my computer. The receipt showed up as Techkangaroos not them. I called and emailed them multiple times to get refunded but refused to and harassed me with phone calls after that

I received a voice message on my landline that said my computer protection was going to expire and if I didn't cancel I would be billed $299.

Called my elderly mother and claimed she owed $299 for PC tech support, and if she cancelled they would charge her card. I called the number and a man with a south asian accent answered. He BS'd some story about PC protection and support (she doesn't own a PC). Clearly a scam on an elderly woman.

Outstanding bill on a card that doesn't exist

The PC Tech Services Story

I have been duped out of $6000 on an internet scam.

Found a message on *** 8/13 from “PC TECH Support?” 904 263 5281 that there was a $699.90 charge on my card. When I called (Steve?)—hard to understand dialect—for rebate, he advised me he could remove the charge and gave “not clear” instructions. Subsequently, I called back and he said he could remove the charge and gave me a web address. The address allowed him into my computer. I watched as he got into the BECU debit check account and saw the $699.90 draw. How did he get access to BECU MC number to make $699.90 charge and into the BECU accounts to make changes?

Watching the BECU account online, it showed a deposit $6999 into the BECU checking account which I later discovered was hacked from my line of credit. I pointed out the error and he expressed that if his bosses saw that, he would be fired. He asked me to go to Apple store, get 3 $2000 gift cards, and if asked, tell Apple it was a wedding present for my daughter. After some interrogation from Apple and difficulty, I had 3 $2000 gift cards. When back on my PC, I saw the $2000 and $4000 dollar draws on the BECU checking account but the $699.90 was gone. How was he able to hack into the BECU account to remove the $699.90t?

All but first call conversation was done on my cell phone 253 227-5963

I keep the BECU records using Quicken on a thumb drive off the computer but the BECU account id and password are in file on the computer

I am in the process of changing account # and passwords.

Said my credit card was charged $699.99 for PC Support Service. If I wanted to cancel and wanted to get refund they would have to take information down for refund. I wouldn't give and said my credit card better not have been charged for something I didn't order.

My home computer is compromised. I am unable to operate my computer. Yes I know I should have never allowed the computer technician access. By allowing a representative from PC Tech support into my system because I could not close the window pop up telling me That my " personal logins and bank information is compromised . ...there is a great threat of leaking my personal data. So I need to respond swiftly! ". There was more info along with a phone number to call to seek help. The male representative quickly accessed my computer and showed all the ways I could get hacked and that my updated, current McAfee security system does not offer the protection his program will offer. He offered a discount today because my computer will soon be compromised - I DECLINED but not before I got his name and phone number. I was still unable to close the pop up on my screen so I turned off my computer. Since then I am not able to turn on my computer. My IT tech said the PC Tech Support representa while in my hard drive , added a virus. Now I have to pay to get my new computer fixed

my son was on a adult site when he received a message from a lady saying we had viruses on the computer when i called the 800 number on the message i was directed to the pc tech support people who remoted into my computer and said they cleaned up my computer for 199.99 for one time charge but i ended up calling *** which is a legit company who advised me they was giving wrong information about my computer i also have webroot on my computer that came back clean when agent from geeksquad walked me through scanning my system so i want this known that pc tech support should lose whatever license they may contain currently.

I was called on Saturday by someone who said they were from a company associated with Microsoft called PC Tech Support and that I was being hacked that very minute. I was having email problems so I believed them. They gave me my personal computer id # and it was accurate. They walked me through a few things and had me open some things and showed me all the attempted hacking on my computer. Apparently without me being smart enough to notice, they took over my computer, I think. Then I was informed that my antivirus was not working and they offered me protection through Microsoft and for $9.50 I would have comlpete protection for six months. I felt uncomfortable doing this, so he offered to comlpete the transaction through an independant source, and Western Union was mentioned. I opened it, put in my Debit card information and the second, literally, I did, my computer screen went blank. I finally (I'm very aware in hindsite I'm an [censored]) opened my account on my tablet and they took over $600.00 of my money. I immediately called and canceled my debit card, and turned off my computer.

Opened computer and had not even entered the PW when a beeping sound and a pop up message saying "BSOD" and an lengthy message saying call Microsoft support and do not shut down your computer. The number to call was: 855-995=8594. They answered and gave the impression they were Microsoft (they did eventually say they were a 3rd party provider). In order to stop the beeping, and clear the error message they needed me to type some stuff in so they could take control of the computer and fix the issue. I have done that with Microsoft and Norton several times, so I told them go ahead. Long story short, they eventually asked for 1YR to Lifetime support contracts. The name that them popped up was PC Tech Support at 888-308-3363. They should several Norton configuration issues and said Norton did not support Windows 10 and that in the upgrade online my IP address was corrupted and without their protection, all my devices would eventually become infected. They also showed (bogus) internal files that showed all Microsoft protection had been disabled. It smelled rotten and it was. I hung up. I called Norton. They had heard of such a scam. They ran a complete scan and my computer was fine (all Microsoft files were actually running correctly) and reiterated that of course Norton is compatible with Windows 10. All was well and the scan showed no infections. I was very close to giving Who Knows Who, my credit card information and losing $350 for a lifetime contract. I did unfortunately give them remote access to my computer and while I have Lifelock, I am concerned they might have downloaded files and now could have plenty of ammo to attempt to steal my identity.
