Type of a scam: Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill

One of our custodians received several calls from an "unknown" phone number. One day he answered the call mistakenly and talked to a Male representive. He talked about the products that they offered and our custodian told them that he doesnt authorize any purchase but his boss does. He asked that the guy call back and talk to his Manager. The sales rep then proceeded to say that they were going to send "free samples" of trash bags to our company at no cost. We received the shipment of trash bags and gloves. We did not authorize any purchase of any product. I received a call from a customer service reprsentative stating that we had an outstanding invoice that was not paid. The proceeded to say that we did not receive and invoice and had not paid any money to NorthStar. The representative then forwarded me an email with the invoice. I was shocked that they were wanting to charge us $295 for 2 Cases of trash bags and $376 for 1 Case of Gloves. I did my research as I always do on this invoice and found out that this was a scam. We will not be paying the invoice or sending the product back.
