Type of a scam: Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill

We were sent an invoice for 2 cx/500 rolls 3M Kind Removal Silicone Tape 2"x5.5 yds ea. Total bill including shipping & handling was $3,879.40 to the attention of our CNO. There was a line on the invoice that was partially cut off that appeared to include the PO number, but we did not have the entire line information. I researched this company and found that there were many complaints with the BBB. After research at our facility, no one had ordered the indicated product.

We received an invoice from Nationwide Services, addressed to our COO (by name), for ECOLAB BROAD-SPECTRUM QUATERNARY DISINFECTANT totaling $2,701.16. Attached to the invoice was a W9. Our COO did not place such an order, nor did our Materials Mgmt or EVS departments. The phone number on the invoice does not go to a voicemail or live person. I then googled the company and found many complaints dating back over 5 years ago for 'fake invoicing'. It appears Nationwide Services sends out invoices with W9s attached in hopes that a company will blindly pay them. This is a scam!

Nationwide Services sent an invoice with a copy of a W9 to my hospital's former COO. The invoice was for $3669.60, for HEPA Air Filter Change out bags. This is a scam as we have never requested anything from this company. The phone number on the invoice gives you an answering machine with a message asking you to leave your company's name and address. Definitely a scam.

Received an invoice from Nationwide Services Ft. Lauderdale, FL at my place of business. The invoice was for 1cs of 45gals Glad Compostable Can Liner Refills at the cost of $1,714.30. No one at our company ordered these items. There a few suspicious things on the invoice. First they included a W-9 along with the invoice and also had our CEO's name on the document.

Tried calling the phone number listed on the invoice just to get a recording not allowing you to leave a message.

This was pretty easy to identify as a scam being that we have supply ordering procedures in place.

Shame on you Nationwide Services that's terrible. That's an insult to all the hard working people out there struggling to make a living.

My business received an invoice from Nationwide Services for 6 "HP Q2612A black print laser toner cartridges" at $66.50 each for a total of $399.00. Not on the bottom said "damaged chip replacement EIN 1812441 manufacturers maintenance schedule. They used our HR manager's name in the ATTN line. Unfortunately for Nationwide Services, only one person in our IT department (not HR) orders anything like that - so they didn't get paid.

Received an invoice for $419.70 from Nationwide Services for HP copy paper "damaged shipment replacement". The phone number goes directly to voicemail. There is not a website. My company is in Illinois and we use a local vendor for all office supplies. This "fake" company is located in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Received an invoice for 36 black print laser toner cartridges renewals that were not ordered or received. We tried to call the number on the invoice but we were not able to reach a live person. Needless to say, we will not be paying this invoice. The company has 25 complaints on the BBB because of this fraudulent business practice.
