I tried to remove a charge on my Citibank bill and somehow started speaking with a person who proceeded to gave me a 100-mile-a-minute sales job, something about $1.95 month etc etc. I said NO I JUST WANT TO REMOVE THIS CHARGE. Then boom I start getting notices with a wrong name (probably a good thing) and that if I don't call the number 1-800-393-0658 to terminate I have basically accepted this scam. This is infuriating and I am concerned that we are losing our consumer protections to stop it.

This company sent a letter to my BIL, with advanced dementia and in an assisted living facility, giving him 15 days to respond and if they do not hear from him they will begin charging him $29.99 per month -- for who knows how long! He has no idea of what this is and since he is dealing with dementia, has no recollection of agreeing to anything. How they even got his address of the facility I'll never know. These people need to held accountable for preying on the elderly and infirm.
