Type of a scam Online Purchase

mwcontainers.com is a scam - no product is shipped

Midwest Shipping Containers (mwcontainers.com) is a sophisticated fraudulent e-commerce site. I spoke with representatives Ben Mateo and Michael Allen. They answered my technical questions, including details of delivery. They only accept payments via ACH bank transfer, Zelle, or bitcoin. I used Zelle to email address [email protected] for the payment, but no product was shipped. The company does not respond to emails or calls. The business address is a real address, but the business at that location is an auto repair shop.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

We were sent a legitimate looking invoice for purchase of a 20 Ft. shipping container including shipping and handling charges for delivery to our specified location in Texas. I spoke to a guy named Ben on the phone the contact there and he indicated that a credit card could not be used and required a bank wire. Understanding that credit card use does cost the vendor so was willing to build a relationship for ongoing purchases. He required an email with pic of verification that the wire was sent. Not sure why this couldn't be verified in his account. Once the wire was confirmed it was very difficult to contact Ben to get confirmation of delivery and he said he would look into it. Finally after many calls and emails I received tracking information out of the blue from a company called Advance Shipping. Great I thought, but still could not get confirmation of delivery to our address. After a few days of emails and phone calls, I received a text message to "track the container now" so I could see that it was on hold in Nashville TN. and that I must pay another $2600 in cash wire for insurance that would be returned once the container arrived in Texas from Tennessee. It was apparent at that point that was clearly a scam and with escalated urgency demanding more cash before it would be delivered.. I tried to call Ben and at MWContainers, but never answered the phone. Lastly, I emailed him again suggesting that he deliver the container as agreed, but the container was never delivered.
