I was attempting to find employment as a freelance proofreader on Upwork when I put an offer in to "proofreader needed." The company was IngramSpark. They said Mr. James Higgins would be the HR representative I would be working with. He asked me to be in contact via the Telegram app. This Mr. Higgins told me the company was going to give me a try and they would be sending a contract via email. Everything looked legit. He sent me a check to purchase equipment for a home office and I was to use their "vendor." The first check he sent could not be deposited on my mobile app. There was something off about the routing number. "The company" sent a second check that made it through the app deposit but remained pending for review. Mr. Higgins requested I send the first $1000 via zelle to: [email protected]. This is most definitely NOT an Apple vendor's professional contact information. Mr. Higgins then requested I zelle the final $950. Thankfully my bank never sent the funds and locked my account.
