My boyfriend was almost scammed by Metro Towing Inc tonight. While he was parked in a 7-11 parking lot, inside the store picking up drinks, this company attempted to tow our car. They actually jimmied open the door to the car to illegally gain access to our vehicle. The tow truck driver claimed that my boyfriend left the premises, which is absolutely untrue, as he was inside 7-11 for barely 5 minutes. The manager of 7-11 did not request for our car to be towed, and he confirmed that my boyfriend was indeed a customer and was just inside the store. This company clearly waits outside of businesses so they can illegally tow vehicles, and then force unwitting drivers to pay cash to retrieve their cars. There are numerous accounts of this same experience by other unlucky Angelenos on Yelp, and I'm sure that many other complaints have been made to consumer protection organizations. We're lucky that my boyfriend saw what was happening in time, and made such a stink about it that this horrible individual was forced to leave. This man pretended as if he was doing us a favor, when in fact, what he was doing was illegal. This business should have their license revoked and no longer be able to operate as a legitimate tow company in the city of Los Angeles.
